so unfortunately my saturday group for dnd decided to disband almost a month ago 😭 i took a little break to just chill and do whatever but. now i’m kinda scared to get back into looking for a group 😦 is there any places OTHER than reddit to go to?? i’ve had such bad experiences with reddit and i hate putting so much effort into smth that ends up being a horrendous experience
ALSO!! same goes for ffxiv!! the only reason i haven’t bought the game beyond finishing the free trial is bc i hate playing by myself 😭😭 i always see such cool ffxiv groups who draw their characters & rp & do fun stuff together.. is there any places to find groups like that..
For FFXIV communities I found the best way was go to venues through the party finder (not so much the clubs but the RP centric venues) and just see how things go RP wise there and see how you like the vibe, then check out their discords and go from there. They seem very heavily discord based. Some groups are more invested than others in group character development, creating one-off rps and that kind of thing. I find the venues in game are usually a good hint at what to expect.
I've been trying to get involved with the more RP aspects of FFXIV and some groups might be a little intimidating where there's so much amazing lore and creative characters. I'm the type to get very self conscious and trying to make sure I'm not disruptive to what people have going already but I love character building. ;w;

ahhhh i literally forgot abt the venues— is that available on the free trial or would i need to purchase the game to have access to it? : o (i’ve been tempted to buy it for a whole year now anyways after beating the free trial on my paladin acc.. plus i want a viera..)
YEAH that’s what i’m a little scared of 😭 i love rping & hcing but i get a little shy if we don’t chat a little beforehand,, makes it feel too serious 😦

Yep you should be able to go to the venues as long as you have access to the party finder option and can get to residential areas! (If you are looking to buy the game, I think its on sale currently!)
I found that even if you find an RP venue that doesn't quite work out, they all have affiliated venues and you can take your time trying different ones. They're usually linked in their discords. :)

Using the filters make sure to select "RP Heavily encouraged" and you'll get places that are more than just clubs.

ohhh i haven’t checked out the roll20 forums, i’ll have to look at them!! i’ve used the discord community search once but unfortunately, the dms would only rotate through one-shots and i’d prefer a longterm game 😭 (maybe i was just in the wrong place tho)
