Deusoia Info: Gemstones and Magic

Symbolism of Gemstones
The gemstones that adorn a Deusoia’s forehead are not simply an aesthetic option - these gems are what tie a Deusoia to the Heavens, and bless them with their magic.

When the world first formed, there existed at that point in time only Aloris, as Protogenia was deceased and the other two Primordial Goddesses were missing. But Gods are not something that are born, or created by something else - they are created whenever an event of grand significance happens somewhere in the universe. The reveal of the greater universe was one of these events.

Heat and pressure formed inside the new planet when Aloris crashed into it, and like magma, the goddess Liand burst from it’s center, diamonds glittering underneath her skin.
Like the blinded Aloris, the newly born goddess was confused and bewildered by the world she had come into...but the two of them found each other.
And a union was quick to form.

The diamonds that glimmer under Liand’s skin are charged with a deep magic. Those with her blessing are given a gemstone.
Deusoia, the first creation of the Goddess Aloris, are inherently born with the blessing of Liand, but on the rare occassion, the humans of IO are granted a gem at birth.

When one is born, the gemstone exist embedded deep within their body. When they reach a point of spiritual awakening, usually within the first 13 years of life, the gemstone begins to appear.
The process of the gemstone’s appearance is a painful one - the skin is torn by the gem, and even with remedies created to make the process more tolerable, the searing of the initial emergence is intense.
Once the gem has appeared, it’s bearer is able to utilize magic.
The variety of magic contained by a gem depends on its type, and some are much rarer than others.
While it is possible for one with a specific type of gemstone to learn another magic, it is a long and difficult process that not many are capable of.

Types of Magic
Elements -
The basic magic types, drawn from the Earth itself. As these magics are so basic, they can be utilized in a variety of different ways, from hurting to healing, from creation to destruction.
These elements consist of:
✦Water
✦Fire
✦Earth
✦Air

Non-Elemental Magic -
Non-elemental magic is rarer and harder to master than its counterpart. These magics aren’t considered Earthly magics, as they are more frequently associated with Gods or holy beings such as saints.

✦Sol - Magic that comes from the sun Herself. Manipulation of light is the most basic form of this magic, but those proficient enough with it are capable of creating dazzling light shows, which can blind and elude foes.

✦Chronos - Chronos is the manipulation of time, and considered a counterpart to void. Contrary to what it implies, those with this magic cannot travel back in time, or to the future, but instead are capable of instant teleportation, causes minor “lapses” in actions, and not pausing, but slowing a sequence of events so that it seems as if they have stopped.

✦Void - The rarest magic type. Void magic allows for manipulation of anywhere that matter does not exist, often the creation and manipulation of shadow figures. Those skilled with void magic can create small black holes, portals, and magic shields which cannot be penetrated. Some gemstones associated with the void are celestite, angelite, moonstone and obsidian.

“Artificial” Magic
On the rare occasion, a Deusoia will be born without a gemstone. It is impossible to use natural magics without them, and this has lead to the creation of “artificial” magic. Artificial is a rather outdated term for it, however, and most nowadays refer to it as Magi.
What differs Magi from natural magic is how it is performed - the usage of magi traditionally resembles potion making - taking together various items and blending them to create concoctions, but it has advanced far more than that. More recently, enchanted scrolls are being used as a magic substitute, which are easier and safer to create and transport. Some especially skilled in the craft have found ways to transfer the energy into gemstones, to create a further resemblance to natural magics.
While some still scorn at the idea of it, Magi crafting is a booming business across the world.
