Terms of Service

  1. The writer retains full rights to the writing, up to and including displaying it online, including it in a portfolio, and requesting credit if reposted.
  2. a) The commissioner retains full rights to reproduce the writing in any way they see fit, so long as full credit to the writer is made fully visible and available to anyone else reading the writing. This includes reposting to other websites and printing for self-use.
    b) If the commissioner wishes to publish the writing in a public physical form (ex. zine, book club, etc.), they must first receive written consent from the writer, and the writer's name must appear as the author of the writing.
  3. a) The writer will work directly with the commissioner to ensure their satisfaction in the end product.
    b) The commissioner can request to receive updates as the writing is ongoing, and to request changes be made to the direction of the story. A total of one change can be made this way before charges are incurred.
    c) Upon completion, the commissioner will have three opportunities to request changes to specific words, dialogue, or actions taken by characters in the story in order to keep them as true to their characterization as possible. Further changes will incur charges.

    b) The writer retains the right to know what changes are being made before expressing approval.
    c) The sole exception is to correct spelling or grammar mistakes that may have been missed during the editing process. If a sentence undergoes extreme restructuring to fix a grammar error, the commissioner will inform the writer.
  5. a) Half of payment is due upfront, with the second half expected prior to final delivery.
    b) If the commissioner fails to pay, the writer retains the right to change any characters in the story and publish it for their own purposes.
