Some DNIs are petty

Telling someone not to interact with you because they consume a piece of media you dislike or that's supposedly "problematic" is immature and petty. Someone else's like of a series you dislike affects you in no way, unless they are forcing it on you. And it's just unnecessary gatekeeping.

Liking a piece of media made by a shitty person doesn't mean you condone of said person's bullshit. Sometimes problematic people make the things we like, and that's one of life's biggest double edged swords. Some of my favorite songs and shows are made by terrible people, but that's how it goes, like it or not. -takes a big drink-

Thanks for coming to my Ted Talk.

Side note, ever notice how most DNI lists are either made by minors or younger adults? (I'm 27 for context; maybe I just get more jaded and desensitized as I get older.)

Yes, exactly! Just agree to disagree when it comes to interests.
A lot of people don't know how to separate the art from the artists.

Yea, honestly I've always thought a DNI was more to filter Triggers or keep minores off of NSFW accounts But a lot of the ones I've been seeing lately are just really odd, like I've seen people with DNIs along the lines of "Do Not Interact if you watch Minecraft Youtubers, Like the horror genre or have ever read Harry Potter!!" Like? :/

Triggers and telling minors to stay off is a legitimate use.

So dumb when it's something as petty as the last things you mentioned.

I blame Twitter
