I decided to give them a brief, over-time update of old resources! Check back frequently to see if anything new has been added!
Luminette Lore & Info under the spoiler!

LUMINETTE TYPES
There are two types of Luminettes: Sun and Moon.
Sun-type Luminettes have diamond shaped or more squared gems.
Moon-type Luminettes have smooth, circular shaped gems.

Luminettes are a social species, living in groups generally corresponding to gem type. However, mixed groups do exist.

Sun-type Luminette groups can be very large, as their gems reflect some of the light due to their smooth,
straight surfaces, which bounces off and reflects into other gems, allowing a streamlined process.

Moon-type Luminettes tend to be slightly more solitary, living in smaller groups. Their gems aren't built for
reflecting light so much as they are built simply for capturing the light. This is due to the fact that moonlight
is duller, and therefore needs to be collected as much as possible.

Luminettes convert the light into forms of energy to survive, in a sort of way that photosynthesis works,
however since they are not plants, their cells aren't as effective at converting the light into energy.

Because of this, they cannot survive solely on light. Luminettes are otherwise omnivorous, eating both plants and animals.
However, they generally feed more on plants and fruits than other animals, preferring to live with them rather than devour them.

However, if a Luminette cannot immediately find food, it is able to survive periods of time without it so long
as it is able to collect reasonable amounts of energy through their gems!

The fur on a Luminette's neck is actually to protect a large row of their gems, which prove to be a very weak spot in their biology.
They are nearly obsolete, being covered in fur, however stronger Luminette may shave their necks in order to gain more power,
or to prove their ability to fend for themselves.

A LITTLE ON DOMESTIC LUMINETTES
Domestic-living Luminettes exist. They are most often of the moon-type, adjusting their sleeping schedule to live comfortable lives with others as friends and family members. This is because wild groups of moon Luminettes are few and far between, given that they DO sleep for part of the night- for the most part- and are therefore vulnerable to attack. Wild Luminettes find it much more difficult to adjust their sleep schedules to fit a daylight routine than a domesticated one might.

This is not to say wild Luminettes are savage or vicious, they are generally a peaceful race and are even known to act as traders or healers along routes or outside cities. Again, most often, these are moon Luminettes.

Sun Luminettes are more inclined to live in large family groups, as they're much more social, preferring to live with their own kind than with other species.

ALPHA LUMINETTES
Alpha luminettes are incredibly rare. They occur in 1% or less of the Luminette population.

They are born with both sun and moon gems across their bodies, both of which function in day and night.
This leads to a huge pool of energy supply, and often an innate sense of magical ability. Alpha luminettes
are most usually seen acting as resident mages or oracles, exchanging magical service for coin.

They're very strong, both physically and magically. They often mimic Moon luminette behavior,
living in more solitary areas, or even by themselves.

GEM INFO
Luminettes generally do not have the same gem patterns. Some may have more than others, some may have
similar gem patterns, and some may have very few gems. However, they all have the row of gems around their
necks, and the large gem embedded into their tail.

Luminettes with fewer gems will generally be weaker, and Luminettes with more gems will generally be stronger.
However this is not always the case, and considering gem size, this will vary. A Luminette with many small gems
could possibly be weaker than a Luminette with a few large gems.

Two-gem Luminettes are as the name implies, sort of. Instead of just one gem on their tail, they will have two.
One large one, and one slightly smaller one. Due to this, they are more able to collect energy and therefore can
help to convert the energy into magic! Most two-gem Luminettes will have quite a few gems with which to draw
energy from, aiding in their magic production.

A regular Luminette MAY practice magic, however it must have extra help in the event that it does not have
enough gems to accomplish this feat.

BROKEN GEM NOTE
If a gem is removed, the Luminette will probably not be able to survive
( if you’re talking about the big one in its tail at least, smaller ones they're able to live without )
because light is a source of energy for them! Unless they’re owned by someone, and thusly well
taken care of, they’re likely going to suffer for a long time. Gems don’t grow back !

GEM COLORATION EXAMPLES BELOW

imO0pEw.png

Common: Dual-toned gems, where the colors blend together. It's pretty common! Usually they come in one color, but still, not exactly uncommon to see two.
Uncommon: Two completely separate gem colors. This is uncommon because usually the gems grow in all the same color(s). This is usually limited to 2-3 colors. Any more and it's a rarity+.
Rare: Patterns & Shapes (stripes, dots, hearts, etc,) all count as rare!

Can a myo slots be an alpha lumi using the rare trait? Having 2 gem?

No, alpha lumi counts as Special trait!!

thank you!

Guess I'll ask this stuff here since Discord is being a pain today... (ʘ言ʘ╬)

When it comes to design edits, are we allowed to swap a moon lumi to a sun lumi and vice versa? If so, are we also allowed to alter the placement, size, and colouration of those gems so long as it fits within the same rarities, and so long as the overall design feeling/theme is kept? I may have asked this a long time ago, buuut if I did I couldn't find it anywhere... OTL

Uhh, also!! Can you have moon gems that are shaped differently - say, like, they're still rounded but not perfectly round/oval - and have them be rough cut? They should still be perfectly distinguishable from sun gems, if that helps; I just don't know how much moon gems can deviate from round/oval besides being cut into shapes like teardrops and hearts! I'm knocking out my MYO slots soon and I HAVE IDEAS... I just wanna be sure before I go ahead with anything, and if a visual of my idea would help just lmk and I'll try to get something together later!!

You can swap their type & very lightly alter the placement, size & color, but as long as it doesn't change too much that should be fine - just run the edits by me, yeah?

AND, you can have them be rough cut but within the realm of lore they're going to be less, uhhh, what's the word? Useful, I guess. Like they won't work quite the way they originally did, just because of the minute differences between Sun & Moon Luminettes magical biologies :>

Oh yeah, it wouldn't be anything super wild anyways! I've just been eyeballing a resale and wasn't sure if I was 100% on something, so I wanted to ask about that first! Tbh I might not even want to change the gem type in the end (just size/placement/colour), but that's still really good to know!!

Okie! By "less useful", do you mean like...just don't make it so rough that they wouldn't be able to absorb moonlight very well? Since moonies are basically built to try to get everything they can... lkjfsasfk just making sure I'm on the same page!! Tysm for always answering my silly questions~ ; w ;

Yeah, basically! AND OFC none of them are silly questions

Hello!

I'm having a hard time navigating around but are their MYO slots via Event or Puchase available for this species?

hi! there are MYO slots available usually during event but I'd be willing to take one now for you (if the price is agreeable) if only due to the fact it's been a tight week!

anyway, common slots tend to run $25, and its +$5 for a rare trait, and +$10 for an SR trait! I have a base linked somewhere in a previous bulletin I could find for you as well.

(asking in a new comment so it's easier for others to see)

What would a lumi's lifespan be like? Would there be any difference between Sun and Moon types, or even how many/how big their gems are?

Do all lumis have the same amount of gems on their neck, or would some have more closer together while others had fewer spaced out?

I'm a curious bean, I'm sorry;;;

A Lumi's lifespan is not that different from a human's - the average human, at least. I'd say they generally tend to live longer within the bounds of modern civilization, somewhere between 70-80, whereas more wild living luminettes may have slightly shorter spans. I don't think the number of gems has too much of an impact on this fact, unless they have very few gems/the ore vein trait; at which point they'd be very tired and, essentially, anemic; not exactly the healthiest.

They have the same number of gems, usually, around their neck, but sometimes I fumble and don't get it right, but usually it's three in front, and two in back for a total of five.

Aww poor ore vein babies! Must protect!

Haha I didn't mean to hold you to anything with your drawing of them or anything, I'm sorry! The thought just occurred to me while I was looking through the lore. I honestly hadn't noticed anything about how you drew them aside from their shape and size >w<

Okay another question oof sorry. If I use my one rare trait to do gem on face, would it just allow one gem for the face? Or could I do two? I assume one but wanted to check

you could do two!

Thank you for answering all my questions <3 I'll send a kiddo to you soon for approval I'm excited ^^

You don't have a discord chat for these babes do you? I'd definitely love to join if you do or if you decide to make one! //eye emoji

hm..! I don't but it might be interesting to make one :0..

I'm sure it would be awesome! I've loved Lumis for years but never knew a way to really be a part of a community with them lol. You may could even do it as a cross chat for your other species as well? I'm sure you have people you know better, but if you need any help i wouldn't mind helping you with it if you did one lol. ^^

if its the one with the gem on its tummy, thats always been an uncommon location!

Ooh, the Ore Veins sound really cool! I look forward to seeing it eventually~
I also noticed in the Gem Placement Rarity that the irises were marked with the same colour for super rare, does this mean that some lumis will have gem eyes?! @o@

This is probably an odd question but are there any restrictions on gem sizes for the gems on their bodies? I noticed they can get pretty small but I'm curious just how large they might get.

Oh oh also, are there any rarities associated with different coloured gems? Like, the gems themselves are a single colour, but there's more than one colour of gem?

Yes! Some Luminettes DO in fact have gems for eyes -- one case in point is this fellow here, belonging to my friend mallimutt !
They are completely functional gems, and the Lumi is, naturally, blind in that eye.

There aren't really restrictions on gem size -- within reason? There shouldn't be any gems the size of their tail gems on their bodies. I'd say they're ALL at least smaller than that size, and can get pretty tiny, indeed.

And yes! So, Luminettes with two completely different colored gems are uncommon, Luminettes with PATTERNED gems, however, are a rare trait. Example below:

I never responded to this I'M SORRY!!

This is all super interesting, and you answered all my questions perfectly, even drawing a diagram /sobs A++++

Thanks for all the info! I love these babies so much~

I love Lumis so much >:'|

I'm looking forward to learning more interesting info about these babs!

I would give my left eye for a Lumi with bunny droop ears and a nub tail ughhhh
I will await my time to nab that dream Lumi

I've said it before but I'll say it again: I LOVE THESE AND PLEASE KEEP UP THE AMAZING WORK!!!

the head gems, like seen in that one, are actually more like horns -- they're an SR trait!
his ears are what were wrapped ears, now called rosebud. they're an UC trait, and will be listed under an extra chart.
