I’ve been waffling on this for a while butttt I think a link between Tannin and Hachi would be interesting to see! 👀
They’d seldom appear like they normally do though, given Hachi’s more skittish nature, so their interactions would be either strictly through their disguised form or they’d manifest as his own internal voice within the confines of his mind 🤔

I think the character development has it's worth both ways! Either Tannin almost coming across as like....a delirium-induced hallucination or in his disguised form! I-am horrible and admittedly i like when my boy is deceived so maybe human disguise is best! I'd like to observe him more with humans (or people he thinks are human)!!

As for River, totally! They're both elemental spirits and rivers got a relationship with snow/ice i think!!
