i am so curious about his motives here & also so worried abt him,, was it bc brainwashed in captivity? or did he know his kind meant the earth ill & kept compassion for the world despite what his captivity was like?
it was kind of both! he developed a hatred for his own kind since he had been abandoned on Earth, so he deserted them here. he hated humans, but they dont all deserve to die. the Devalin couldnt hurt/wipe out the humans without their advanced ships, and he knew the humans would be under immense pressure to figure out what to do with a new intelligent species. so as soon as he saw the opportunity, he pitted them against each other on equal grounds and just dipped :'3
