Marcus caught off guard with her tone! Blank stares. Then a tiny hint of human fear finally surfaces from his eyes. He clears his throat. And computed as told. "Yes ma'am. They know. We all do. All soldiers hold their own pain. This is just something we don't speak openly on."
Marcus still in a state of shock to what he witness, just kind of froze. He catches himself breathing rather hard, tries to paste his breathing. As she reverted back to being sweet he studies her eye. Trying to gather some kind of clue or information of what she is, or just make sense of this situation. He knew what that thing speaks truth about his people. He knew his society had flaws, but it was the only structure he knows of. And as a man of the law, he believed in its liberty.
