- you're completely within your right to redesign the character however much or however little you want, it's your character! as long as original credit is retained you're free to do whatever you want with their design!
- absolutely! again, it's your character, changing the profile picture to your or anyone else's art isnt a problem at all
- i'd say go for it! honestly i'd be honoured if a design by me got used in a project like a comic hfuerhurgwhu- as long as i'm credited as the designer in the description, go for it! however I would like to add that i'm not entirely comfortable with people using my designs when it comes to merch or things like that, but webcomics are totally fine!

don't worry, it isnt for merch/making money directly off of designs (mostly only from the comic/animation) !! tysm for answering!!
