I wanted to go onto an art website a bit older than Scratch (My account was -Moonlark-) And I had to choose between DA and TH, and I chose Toyhouse

Fair enough. Honestly? I'd say you definitely made the right choice.

I have an account on both and in my experience, DA is generally good for attracting people to your art, but I'd say the community on Toyhouse is a lot nicer and less weird. Plus, DA has been a lot less active since the admins changed the design of the site back in May. It's kind of difficult to navigate now.

Yeah. DA looks a bit different

Yeah, the staff planned on changing the site to what it is now for a while. Most people weren't happy about it and made a huge outcry towards it, but the staff went through with changing it anyway because the DA staff don't really listen to user feedback much unfortunately. A lot of people left the site after that.

Oh, oof

Ikr? The entire situation was honestly wild.

I have a question. On your profile page, you have a picture, and lots of info in cool fonts. Some people have backdrops there too. How would I do that?

Alright, this may take a bit of text to explain so do pardon the paragraphs, but I'll try to help you out! ^^

The picture and different fonts I have on my profile can all be done with the tools the site gives you when you edit your profile. Go to edit your profile like you've done before (Settings > Profile Content) then from there you can use the taskbar above the section where you type out your profile info to change all these things.

If you want to change fonts, highlight the bit of info you want to switch to a different font, then on the taskbar I just mentioned there should be a little icon with a capital "A" on it. Click that and a little menu will drop down to let you change fonts.

If you want to add pictures
, you'll first need to upload the picture you want to add to a different site (an image hosting site is best but it can be pretty much anywhere so long as you can copy it) and copy it's image address. Once you've done that, go back to where you edit your profile and click where on your profile you want your picture to go. From there there should be another icon underneath the main taskbar that looks like a photograph. Click that icon and it'll give you the option to paste the image address you just copied. Once you paste it, the image should show up on your profile and you can change it's size.

I know I just shot a lot of info at you all at once, so if you struggle with anything I just said and need a bit of clarification, let me know and I'll send you some screenshots to help point you in the right direction!

As for backdrops, I think I know what you mean but I'm not entirely certain. Could you elaborate for me?

Thanks! I'll try it out soon! And for the backdrop- Like, how some people have their main, some words, then, like, an ocean scene behind it all

It's no problem! Alrighty, let me know how it goes! Ahh, okay. I know what you mean now. That's usually done through HTML or CSS coding which both work on Toyhouse.

Basically, you can use either to give your profile (or character profiles) a backdrop or some more complex stuff. You can either code it yourself or, more commonly, a lot of users make different code templates with different functions and upload them to the site for people to use. Sometimes you have to pay to use them, but there are plenty of free ones!

If you want to look for code templates and learn how to use them, the Toyhouse forums actually have a section dedicated to coding with some tutorials to help you out and a bunch of threads full of free codes. Here's a link if you'd like to take a look: https://toyhou.se/~forums/16.htmlcss-graphics

I'd recommend looking for HTML codes since they're a bit easier to work with and use than CSS codes, but it's up to you!

It can be a bit weird to use codes so if you need a hand, shoot me a message and I'll try to help you out. ^^
