BASSI FOR CALAMY (not dated, outdated at time of saving) --
It's complicated, but Bassi does feel very protective over Calamy, and truly did appreciate the company of the boy during calmer points in time. Situations with Calamy have certainly been an adventure--they met primarily through Bassi being a minor (and harmless) brat with the newly-acquired cabin boy, but then Bassi ended up having to help the little dragon out of an assortment of problems and abuse from other ship-mates, had his homosexuality discovered by the boy (which went poorly at first but not as terribly as it could have gone), and Calamy attacked him due to someone exploiting the little dragon, and then Calamy "died" from an injury sustained by Bassi fighting back in fear of the very sort of fire that had killed the previous boatswain.
Bassi was relieved and in shock when Calamy turned out to be alive, taking him under his personal charge to see that no further harm came to the boy. This was fine, up until the former boatswain came back from the dead and Calamy ended up terrifying him by pure accident. Bassi would have been more upset with this if the shock of the situation weren't so distracting, and it was nothing of any intended harm, but it did make things a bit uncomfortable.
Bassi felt conflicted over learning Calamy would be leaving, but is, at the very least, glad the boy will be in a safer situation. A pirate ship has not been much of a place for Calamy, and he has a family to return to. It seems for the best, though Bassi does wish things could have gone more smoothly.
CALAMY FOR BASSI (not dated, outdated at time of saving) --
Calamy adores Bassi. He's like this thing of legends to Calamy. He holds him in higher regards than any other senior officer on the ship. Despite (or perhaps because of) the troubles they went through, both at first and later on, he still thinks of Bassi as something to be revered. Bassi helped him understand his father better, and most of all forgive him. He had a lot of hatred in his heart over something he should have actually done something about (as his father was put into jail for "wearing a woman's clothes" and being openly bisexual), and feels guilt for leaving instead. He feels no ill will about the disciplinary action that had to happen over the whole treasure framing situation. He lost control, and injured an officer. The flogging he took was necessary as an example to other people and as a reminder of what happens when you harm other people, and he does not blame Bassi for it. (He also doesn't blame him for nearly killing him, he was scared, but mostly sad to be leaving his friends in such a way). But now, after traumatizing the former boatswain, Nando, he feels like things have severed for good between himself and Bassi. Nando is more important, an old friend that came back from the dead is no small matter. Calamy is just a cabin boy, his death was not nearly as important or tragic. They would have moved on without him just fine. Updated Feb 27, 2017 Calamy returned to La Llorona, but works in the kitchen where he's hidden away for most of the time. He now has Moot's old room, as well, which is beside the kitchen. He hardly ever sees Bassi any more, but that's fine. He's more than a decent cook, and learned a lot about balancing nutrition and dividing rations in difficult situations from his time as Moot's apprentice. He's suited to the job, and he's glad to be back on La Llorona, but the change isn't immediately welcome and he still feels depression for what's happened.
