I just wanted to pop in and say a piece further on hermaphrodism.It does actually occur rarely in mammals, I farm and there's a chance that in breeding two polled animals (cattle/goats etc) together they will have hermaphroditic offspring. Generally speaking they have non-functional reproductive systems. But not always. There have been a few cases where both sets function.

It's not common, but hey. It does /rarely/ occur at least in non-human mammals.
