Like, they won't try to kill you over one stupid mistake. And they are more willing to accept people who are different, be it of art skill or sexual orientation. Part of that is that (other than you-know-who) everyone here WANTS to be here, because they had to be invited.
At least give it an honest chance. Don't run away just because someone who you don't have a good history with is also on the site. You don't have to talk to him, y'know. There is a block option if it ever gets that serious.
