artists, what screen drawing tablet size are you guys using? and what software do you use to draw?

im currently using ipad but am thinking of investing in a screen tablet with a bigger size. ive been delving into the realms of ✨️clip studio paint✨️ lately but find that the workspace takes a lot of space (compared to procreate) and im left with a smaller actual drawing space than im used to and comfortable with :")

im currently looking at the xp-pen artist 2nd gen (non-pro) series as its on sale in my country and im torn between possibly getting a 13" or 16"... while im pondering i thought itd be nice to read some opinions on people's own personal experiences with tablet size and softwares, maybe it can help me get my head out of my ass and decide smth o)-(

on another note, if anyone is using xp-pen products, especially the screen ones or even better the 2nd gen artist models id love to hear your inputs!!! ive been browsing youtube reviews too but find a lot of them are sponsored so im taking those in with a grain of salt 🤡

i got arm cramps from using the xp pen artist 12 (which isnt the 13 but its about an inch bigger...!) so i'd def reccomend the 16, it's a good size which isnt too big or too small! xp pen works great with most programs i've tried (sai1&2, csp, medibang/firealpaca) and the surface is smooth but still has a bit of tooth to it so it's not a slip n slide, but it's not as rough as a matte screen protector + apple pencil. as for drawing programs the csp workspace is super adjustable, and its very possible to make a minimal layout to get maximum drawing space! if you need help with that i can def send a video or two or my own layout that i use on my ipad because i was having the same problem with the drawing space being tiny!

I have the 16 pro from XP-Pen and I DO like using it but I've noticed a few things/have had a few issues with it:

- Colors are off from my main displays, I've fiddled with it for a long time but everything is just far more vibrant and saturated vs being true color (my main monitors are calibrated). Settings were limited so I wasn't able to obtain that same look across all my screens.
- The wiring in these things are Rough. The way the power cable plugs in puts a lot of pressure on the port. I was pretty careful with mine but even yet this happened to both my partner and I where everything around the port got loose and the wiring inside seemed to disconnect or loosen. I never move my tablet or take it anywhere, so it slowly just became loose on its own. The screen jittered a lot or straight up would not power on due to this. Sometimes it would be just a big screen of green. It would take several restarts to get things to line up correctly. Mostly the biggest issue is my screen would jitter/shake and would not stop. I returned mine and got a new one through their customer support, so as long as it's within a year of purchase they will replace them if something does happen. My partner's broke juuust outside of warranty though and they wouldn't replace it.
- The screens do scratch pretty fast. :( I recommend getting a protector for it right away.

I realize that all sounds negative but outside of these issues I do like using it! I just wanted to give my honest experience with them. :) But it's a good size and the buttons on the side work well for my needs. I think the pen is a bit lightweight, especially if you're coming off of using an apple pencil, so that could take some adjustment. I use my tablet with CSP and have had no issues with it EXCEPT for 3D models. If you want to use 3D models on your tablet but have other displays connected you have to move the main CSP window into the main monitor THEN open the 3D models, otherwise it will crash CSP for some reason.

If you have any other questions or want more info on anything I touched on lmk :D

WAHHHHHH xp pen is good!!!!!!! aku make yg artist 13", cukup bagus imo!! i did have issues recalibrating the screen to match my laptop screen due to color differences but it was an easy fix! the tooth of the screen is pretty ok (my super old discontinued wacom had a rougher screen but the xp-pen one is good if you dislike glass-sensations)! i personally use CSP v1 and you can actually change the layout size to be a bit smaller to take less space if needed! (i can ss layar kalo kepo HEHE) i started out using SAI v1 so im really used to a simplistic layout, and CSP can definitely achieve that level of simple :]

i have both a wacom one and an ipad! i love both but i lean towards the ipad ngl

i forgot to respond to the rest of it oops SORRY... but anyway you have a really good setup! csp does in fact take up a lot of space compared to procreate, but i will admit both platforms are really good and i personally love vector layers from csp. however procreate is also much easier to use tbh. if you do try the new xp pen artist lmk how it is because i'm always looking for new things to try :D

nkz aAA ty for the input!! i’m leaning more towards the 16” too rn   ive been seeing artists have a separate zoomed out or flipped layer just right there and maybe 16” will allow me that (tHONKS)… and omg id love that if its not a hassle for u?? a screenshot works too if its at all easier!!

Jenks OH tysm for the input!! the newer models actually has usbc port & cable so it’s just 1 cable (at an additional cost tho but i think its one im definitely willing to make considering the alternative :”)) ive never heard of the csp model one too so thats something to consider   & im definitely gonna order mine with screen protector if i do decide to buy, ty ty!!! for the pen, i do like my pens to be heavier since i think it’ll feel better… maybe i can diy extra weight onto it if ever!

tomogotchi KEPO BANGETTT HAHAA kalo ga ngerepotin!!!! grabby hamds…… also itu komen diatas bilang ada issue kalo pake model, kamu ada experience masalah itu juga g?

paldea i really like procreate too but it has its limitations ywy like if u rotate, the line quality will immediately get blurred to hell LMAO, im also drooling over the csp assets…  and will definitely update you if i end up buying!! <33

NGGAK PAPA KAKKK ini setupku ya (monmaap aku tim gambar di kasur jadi pemandangan disensor HEHEHE) aku pake laptop 15"an jadi agk lebih gede dibanding tabletnya, tp ini udh cukup leluasa imo 'w' layout CSPku udah dimodif juga biar UInya lebih kecil dibanding standar

aku nggak ada masalah di bagian model sih kak!! aku bisa load model chara + prop fine" aja kalo di tabletnya, nggak usah mindahin window dulu :O< kalo testi masalah, temenku yg punya model sama ama aku pernah dikasih faulty cable sih ;; jadi pas dia pake suka kedip" gitu kadang,, tp sepengalaman aku make tablet ini fine" aja kok! aku setuju juga sih kalo ini layarnya gampang banget aus/kegores jadi kalo beli mendingan barengan ama screen protectornya kak 'w'b

(tambahan kalo sepengalaman aku kabelnya cukup kuat soalnya setupku ampas banget alhasil port HDMI ama port USB-C laptopku NGGAK SATU SISI WKOWKWOKW)
