What's the status of all the new art sites?

Posted 2 years, 3 months ago by 216th

Which of the new art sites do you use?

1 Votes Artfol
1 Votes Sheezy
34 Votes Buzzly
34 Votes None of the above
3 Votes Other?

As the title says, who's moving/moved and who's using what? There's been so many and idk if any are worthwhile, or if people are sticking to DA out of pure inertia.

And as a general question, what sites are you posting art on?

(Man, TH really needs the poll option that lets you select more than one.)

I've been posting on twitter and artfol regularly (I like artfol's gallery, but hate how it doesn't have a desktop version) and occasionally I post to buzzly to test the waters? But the fact that I have to fill in all the fields in buzzly is super annoying. (Let me leave all the text fields blank, dammit!) And I've been posting finished work and giant collections of smaller pieces to DA, though that kinda feels more like a personal journal of work at this point.

I haven't bothered looking into them tbh. not many of the artists I actively watch have accounts on any of the newer art websites so I guess I don't have a reason to at the moment.

I kinda hate change so I'm not someone who is likely to migrate to a new website without a good reason

VictoryDrawsStuff

I am planning on using Artfol but Sheezy is going to be shutting down ( here is their notice about it )and I have lost interest in Buzzly so I don't use it anymore- Though I am going to try out Artfol at some point.

Sadismancer

Sheezy closing.
So I'm on Buzzly.

i hadn't had any art social media since leaving deviantart about 10 years ago, but i've been trying out buzzly and i've enjoyed it so far! people are really nice, and it's fun to see everyone's art c:

I was loving Sheezy and loved the layout more T_T
But I'm really liking Buzzly! The mods fixed the About Me issue so you can skip lines now ^w^

Artfol

MY experience with artfol was awful. At first, there was no way to filter out content Because blocking wasn't available. When they did add it, later on, I found myself to be blocking people and reporting them almost every day because people won't tag their art correctly. The last straw for me was when I saw an unfiltered explicit NSFW artwork... When I talked about it in the discord they just told me to block and report, but I don't think it's worth losing my sanity because of irresponsible NSFW artists so I said on a text post that I will only come back when they would add a tag filtering system but honestly the whole experience disgusted me so much that I don't think I will ever use it again.

Sheezy

Someone I follow on toyhouse recommended the website so I joined! The customization was great and the site looked really promising! I stopped using the site due to social anxiety. I really loved the filtering system as it was the best one I have seen compared to other websites and I could finally feel safe while browsing through art! Unfortunately, it has to close :(

Buzzly

I joined buzzly shortly after I joined sheezy, but I didn't use it as much because tag blocking wasn't implemented yet. I became more active on buzzly shortly after I stopped using sheezy.art and I decided to post twice a day. Buzzly has been really nice for me and it kinda became my main platform.

oh sheezy's closing? man that's quick

wonkypaws

i don’t have any, i’m only on deviantart atm but im planning on trying buzzly since so many people seem to like it

Ive only used buzzly a little-and it def seems to be the more popular of the new art sites or at least on here. The site has a strong vibe of what deviantart used to be like before the layout changed and I believe thats where most of the appeal of buzzly comes from. I have had no problems with it so far tho

cryptocorvid

I've been using Buzzly and enjoy it a fair bit so far! I never got a chance to check out Sheezy and I refuse to use anything without a desktop version so Artfol is out for me.

Skykristal

I used all of the ones mentioned in the poll. But Sheezy and Artfol I just felt like posting into the void which made it kinda pointless for me to stay. On buzzly it's a little better.. you feel more connected & I love the site layout and features.
