if you want to steer away from lots of gore and graphic content, then i suggest steering away from ihnmaims and leaving it to the back burners. as much as i love ihnmaims, it can be a lot for beginners
well my main question is; is it a good intro to the horror genre?
i've like never watched or read anything with horror and i dont want to read a book that has tons and tons of gore and graphic content to start? if that makes sense i guess??
sorry if i sound stupid idk ðŸ˜
Edit: thank you everyone this really helped!sdfkdfjhsb
WAIT THE "I HAVE NO MOUTH AND I MUST SCREAM" COMES FROM HERE?????? I THOUGHT IT WAS JUST A FUNNY QUOTE EVERYONE ON THE INTERNET ADOPTED-
It's not going to be good for you if you aren't into graphic content/gore!Â
I can recommend Silence of the Lambs? I don't recall it being too gorey, but I may be mistaken. Midsommar as well. You might like Psychological horror best🤔Â
I haven't read I Have No Mouth and I Must Scream, but I think Misery by Stephen King is a good introduction to horror literature :D It was the book that got me back into reading two years ago and it was very spooky, I highly recommend it!!
it diesnt have muuuuch gore but it isnt really primarily horror? its speculative science fiction. like, its spooky, but it doesnt really have any of the usual tropes. in terms of reccomendations, id honestly reccomend some more kiddy horror? coraline (the book) is pretty good and it doesnt really have traditional gore in it, goosebumps is always a classic (i think about the haunted school especially like, every day, its genuinely fucking terrifying)
also something like fnaf might be good but it doesnt really. have a plot in game. so
Feufeu i have no mouth and i must scream is an old scifi short story by harlan elison! it centers on a practically omnipotent ai named AM and the 5 humans that it's kept alive to torture after the apocalypse. the title comes from the end of the story (spoilers but the entire thing is like 16 pages it doesnt really matter) where, as a punishment for killing the rest of the humans, the last survivor is transformed into an amorphous blob in eternal pain that, well, has no mouth and must scream.
i havent actually gotten to, reading it, but ive watched a bit of the game adaptation and heard it talked about a lot :)
