Bringing this back bc of the new people hopping in!!
I love everyones sonas so much??? They are all precious. So to fix this, show me the characters you view as yourself in any way! Doesn't have to look like you or whatever, I feel everyone's take on a sona is different. So yeah!! Keep 'em coming, I'm loving them
I don't know what the term is - sona, self insert? Self OC ??? ME ???
Either way, I want to see people who have made themselves as a character, which I'm assuming everyone calls a sona!
Sage here is probably who I utilize as my "fursona," and my persona for most general usage around the internet. She incorporates a lot of things I identify with--she's a bunny (a unique mythical bunny, actually--a wolpertinger), has fawn and pink in her design which I love, has same hair color to me, and in general her personality fits me well. However, I don't see Sage the character AS me. Her story doesn't have a lot to do with me, and I don't actually self-insert when it comes to RPing or writing about her. I just feel very comfortable with her being my face online. :3
A lot of my other characters are those I consider "personas" for different reasons. Either they're somewhat self-inserts/avatars for me in a setting, or I put a lot of myself into their story and personality, and empathize with them really strongly.
- Samantha McPhoenix is my Pokemon trainer-sona, and probably the closest character to "me" that I have. She started out as my trainer character in the games, then began developing into a self-insert character for my Pokemon fanfiction. Ironically, her story development has made her a very distinct character over the years, and I would say her personality and behavior does not match up very well to my own IRL anymore. xD Nonetheless, I empathize with her deeply and am very protective of her.
- Cerylia is my World of Warcraft main, and my persona/avatar in the WoW community. Naturally, as my main character in a role-playing game, I put a lot of myself into her, and our feelings/responses to things that occur in game are one and the same. We've spent nearly nine years together and my affection for her has yet to fade.
- Minty is a human avatar that represents me in various games, particularly virtual pet games I play. She also embodies my "author" abilities to control and manipulate the characters and worlds I work with, and thus is an omnipotent individual with great power. She's not a particularly serious character of mine, more of a aesthetic avatar, but I like her very much!
- Llylithen is the older brother of Cerylia and another WoW character of mine. While he's not played as frequently in-game as some of my other characters, I actually probably spend the most time writing and RPing as him. He's something of my "male-persona," embodying what I enjoy about many of my other male characters, and who I tend to default as when I get into a more masculine mindset. I love him and love being him.
- Reagan is a new sona of mine, who I kinda want to be my male "fursona" as a complement to Sage. I feel a very keen connection to him in a way that's hard to describe, but I have yet to figure out what his full story is. He's still a work in progress. :)
I definitely have a lot more characters I connect with very closely in similar ways, but these few are the ones I feel comfortable calling "sonas." ^^
Yaxeka is my main sona! Their design evoled so much as I grew up, expecially their hair (which are probably the thing that changed more since I had a lot of different haircuts and changed a bunch of colors |D )
Their name changed too, the one they have now was given to me by a person that means the world to me and I've decided to use that name on my sona, too.
Leah is an exaggerated furry me lol, she's always been around in some form as my fursona, sometimes under a different name & species. I solidified her design this year, the rat is the only animal for me really and Leah is my middle name so I don't see her undergoing any drastic changes again for a long long time :>
I do also have a dinosona and a dragonsona because I'm a nerd, but I love them all dearly <33
