LF Worldbuilding buddies!

Hey everyone! I'm looking for a worldbuilding buddy to bounce some ideas off of~

To let you know a little about who I am as a person, my name's Elithian, otherwise known as Eli or Sara, and I'm a 20 year old Belgian lady in the +1GMT timezone. Or was it +2GMT? Daylight savings, man. I'm really into digital art, OCs, demons, fantasy, worldbuilding, biology, general sciences, and cartoons. I'm studying biology at KULeuven for my first year this year, so while I'm busy I also need some time to relax!

As an avid worldbuilder I'm always looking for ways to broaden my world and to combine my interest in science to drive the way the world is shaped. I tend to be very pragmatic and love setting rules for the world toabide by, in a way that the way the world is set up, anything that happens can be perfectly replicated under the same circumstances and yield the exact same results. People have had an issue with my admiration for setting up rules in worldbuilding rules in the past, so I'm gonna link this here. If what's written there seems too much, I'm most likely not the person to worldbuild with for you!

The idea is that we get to know each other a little bit and help each other out with our worlds, and if needed, characters. If you don't have a world or don't need help with it, I'm also okay with just helping out with characters in return for worldbuilding help!

As stated above, I'm a fairly practical worldbuilder with an eye for detail and a need for realism. High fantasy where everything goes won't fly for me, which is one thing to keep in mind. The world I want to work on is Life, which can be summarised as the following:

◆ The setting is late medieval to Renaissance and there's a big focus on scientific and quality of life progress.
◆ The world is based in fantasy, in that magic exists. Creatures such as demons, dragons, beast people, and hybrid creatures are really common.
◆ Everything needs a reason and everything has to be explained, 'because wizards' doesn't work.

To give an idea of the stuff I like, here's a table of stuff I can do and prefer when worldbuilding:

Yes No
- Humanoids and anthros

- Themes of adventure and action, slice of life, the 'human' condition of suffering, and survival

- Scientist characters/themes

- Large-scale organisations and their history

- The fine history of how species and cultures got to know each other and how their modern relations came to be

- An OOC connection (Discord or Skype)

- Realism and rules

- A logical approach to worldbuilding where cause has effect and great power always needs to be questioned on why it hasn't yet taken over the world, as an example
- Modern setting

- CS characters (regular original species are fine)

- Stereotype-filled fantasy, the use of too many fantasy tropes

- "Everything goes, no rules for anything" fantasy

- Staying too close to our own middle ages, especially in Europe

So yeah, that's about all I gotta say! If you have any questions, feel free to ask me in this thread or send me a PM. I'm looking forward to getting to meet some people and getting some worldbuilding done! :D

ElithianFox Oooh, I love worldbuilding, and I'd be glad to help! College is currently super ridiculously busy, though, so I prob can't chat much/at anything resembling a normal schedule? If this is a deal breaker thats's totally understandable.
