Sleetgray (zombie apocalypse RP)

Sleetgray is a town based somewhere on Planet Earth, but is not based off of any specific place to avoid politics/racism/etc. Sleetgray is in the Northern Hemisphere - and is an island that has attracted many visitors from around the world for it's beautiful landscapes, views, and community that live(d) here. It is easily accessible by boat, ships, planes, and there's even way for direct travel for cars and horses.

The timezone of Sleetgray is in current time - which means technology is all available, including phones, computers, tablets, etc. Electricity has not yet been affected by the Infection - which is the main theme of Sleetgray's lore for roleplay. A zombie apocalypse. Sleetgray is rich in resources but due to their small size, resources will diminish quickly.

Sleetgray takes place on an Earth in which there has been tests on humans in an attempt to make them mutated - stronger, faster. Just altered, nothing with additional powers. Rumors were quick to spread about the Infection spreading from a lab with an undisclosed location. These are just rumors, and not confirmed. Slowly, areas have slowly started shutting down due to the panic and not enough workers willing to risk their lives for maintaining electricity. All of the characters in Sleetgray have been abandoned by the world, left on their own as tourists in a place they're not at all familiar with.

Sleetgray is a roleplay designed for human characters, and specifically nonfandom ones. In the future as roleplay develops, looking into have zombie characters, or half-zombie characters can be looked into.

Characters should not have any powers - we want to make the roleplay as realistic as possible, so if you were hoping to have an anthro, alien, ghost, etc. character, then this probably isn't the role-play for you. I apologize for that in advance. However, the only exception to this rule is having an animal that would go on to be apart of a group that is cared for by humans - within reason. Animals are not affected by the Infection, so animals such as moose, bears, lions, tiger, etc. would not be allowed unless there's a special curcumstance of someone having an animal rehabilitation based character. Dogs, cats, foxes, goats, etc. are all allowed as valid pets. Hell, you could even give your character a pet fish if they could keep it alive.

Keep in mind that realism is our number one basis, which means characters would be affected by hygiene, infections, sicknessess, etc. Characters can be disabled, can be powerful, can know how to use knives, etc. - just keep in mind that most people would definitely be afraid out of their minds from a sudden zombie apocalypse, as for as long as they knew, it was nothing more than a game or television concept. References of games or TV shows are encouraged and would be hilarious to see in roleplay!

Regarding keeping the roleplay as realistic as we can, always ask before interacting with someone else's character(s). Things that simply won't be allowed at any point would be (TW) r*pe, any type of s*xual assault, any type of p*dophila, any type of sexual animal abuse, etc. If you're unsure of something, you're always more than welcome to ask me personally for help or recommendations as how to go about writing something.

Roleplay responses should be at minimum a few paragraphs long - it doesn't particularly have to be 500 words long everytime, or even be a Wikipedia article for every response. I'm just expecting actual effort from everyone to build a world and bring our characters and their interactions to life. For example, a "She looks over and smiles at him." as a full reply isn't what I'm looking for. If you are a novice roleplayer or writer, then I fear this might not be for you. However, I completely understand in action scenes that things will get serious and fast-paced - so there's no need to be as long as usual.

Regarding the power system - there will of course always be knives, baseball bats, and even guns in the houses of Sleetgray's residences. Just keep in mind that if your character has no idea how to shoot a gun, they shouldn't just gain the knowledge after a singular night. Don't worry if you don't know how to write out how to use a gun either - there will be characters that can help your character learn. Bullets are limited due to lack of resources, and would attract the noise of zombies. Any loud noises and any bullets should be used with consideration - unless you've got a himbo character that just likes shooting guns, IDK LOL.

As the roleplay progresses, I'm sure that there's gonna be characters that fall in love or have shipping behind them. That's OK, but keep in mind that sex should have no part in the role-play itself - kissing, making out, groping, are all allowed, as the roleplay itself is meant to be 16+. Swearing is okay for characters. Keep in mind that we're going for realism - there may be controversial characters, as we don't get along with everyone we meet.

Characters will also have cliques and groups as time goes on - always ask beforehand if your character can join a group/gang/clique before inserting them into one. Territory scuffles or fighting isn't abnormal, especially since people are fighting for survival, and they shouldn't be forced to act "soft" towards your character. Make sure your experience is both fun, and in character! No point in doing something that's gonna make you feel forced to do so!

Characters can have faceclaims - as long as the model or person(s) is/are OK with it. Otherwise, try to stick to art for your character(s) if you can. No worries if you can't, you can also describe them!

Just a quick breakdown of how adding characters and being able to roleplay in the group itself will go! This way, you're not confused or overwhelmed by the process; or you can even see if this is for you.

Keep in mind that Sleetgray is a group based role-play - not a 1x1 role-play. There will be more than one person beside you participating, which can get overwhelming quick and make you feel demotivated to respond. Worry not - there will be a topic in the world used for updates and announcements, which will be posted on often (depending on how many people there are for the group, how often replies are posted, etc.). They will be short and simple bullet points, such as: [ Character A and Character B found each other, and are now established in a camp in the apartment building they found. ] Hopefully that'll make it easy for everyone.

If you ever find yourself getting overwhelmed or set off by a person, you're always more than welcome to reach out to me to try and settle the issue(s) you're dealing with. I understand what it's like being in a group and having one person seemingly ruin it for you.

Despite hoping for longer length, this world won't have any discrimination against writers that aren't as advanced. Asking for help should always be something you feel like you can do, and I apologize if by me asking for a minimum of a few paragraphs has made you feel as though you can't ask me for help. If English is not your first language or you need help with describing or lengthening your reply, you should always be able to ask! Keep in mind that I'm not here to bite.

Now that those disclaimers are out of the way... The way the world will work is as follows:

1. Rules > 2. Additional world information > 3. Character roles > 4. Forms for characters

If you want additional characters, you can add them in batches in topics #3 & #4. If you decide you want a character later on, too, then feel free to add them later on! There's no need to submit all characters at once, and there is no limit to characters.

There will be additional topics in the world, but the steps will be labled correctly with numbers so worry not.
