Doba That, and how are we supposed to tell, from the favorites, who just likes the design vs who wants to own it? I feel like a ping button would be super helpful!

An option to have a ping list for characters that people may be interested in, similar to the "favorites" button! Just click it and get added to a ping list when/if the character goes up for offer. Make it so it can be turned off if the owner prefers not to have people on one.
There is already a favorites section, but many people are interested in buying by favoriting, while some just like the design or don't want to own it.
Suppose there was a way to enable ping lists on a character without people having to ask explicitly; in that case, it might make it easier to decipher who may be interested in resale without struggling through advertising/forums or editing a character for their subscribers when only ten people follow you, and the character has 200 faves.
Then a character with 400+ favorites won't have to ping all 400 people to tell them the character is up for an offer when only 50 people may be interested in owning it. It's not plausible to go through and ask everyone more favorites if they're okay with being pinged, so having a separate function for it may be helpful.
EDIT: This would also work amazingly well with the new function allowing people to post commissions, adopts, and other sales posts!
Edit: Also, having an area to see the characters you'd like to be pinged for would be a good idea! Like the favorites section, but more specific. (Thank you for the idea, SmilishStylish !)

My personal opinion on it is that it’s a good idea but it must be optional. Not a maybe optional but needs to be. Like it’d suck to have people asking to be on a pinglist for a character that the creator doesn’t want to make a pinglist for (ex. a sona).
There needs to be an easy option to enable and disable it for all characters so people don’t need to spend the time putting it all in.
Also there needs to be a way to keep track of who you requested a pinglist for. Like a favorites section for pings.
Yeah! It being optional is in the post! Favorites are also optional, so it would make sense for pinglists to be too ^.^
I agree about the last part! Having a place where you can see it. I feel like pinglist would essentially just be favorites, but more specific ^.^
+1 This would definitely be helpful when try to sell stuff. And I think it'll also be helpful for people who don't mind favorites on their ocs but don't want people putting them in dreamie folders.
Also, I'm wondering if we still have to individually ping those in the pinglist, or if the people will immediately be notified the moment the oc gets listed?
PolygonZ Good idea! Maybe there could at least be a way to let everyone know? Like a way to make a private bulletin kind of thing, only for people on pinglist?
Kinda like how when you subscribe to someone, and they make a bulletin, you get a ping! So maybe the people on the pinglist get that ping of "a character you liked is now up for offers!" Or something of the sort!
+1! I don’t think I’ve commented yet, but this is also a nice feature because sometimes pinglists don’t work when people’s usernames change over time. So it would be nice to have an ongoing, consistently updating one!
Also, since people are talking about how it would work, I think a “@username has pinged these characters:” in the inbox would be nice. Kind of like the “@username wants you to know they’ve edited these characters:” message. The option to ping users could be next to that option in the update characters area/special edits, so owners don’t accidentally ping them.
SmilishStylish I think the way to adhere to that would have the pinglist be almost a mirror to favourites, where you can disable pinglists when you upload characters (just like you can disable favourites or comments).
