So I am new to character adoption, and I'm already being sucked into loving too many babies šŸ˜šŸ˜. IĀ see in the Adoption center people accept artwork for their characters. And I'm here to ask what the standard worth of my art is so I donā€™t screw anyone over with my offers.

I draw characters in a cutesy, chibi style. Here is what the art I'm currently offering Ā looks like. The top two uses a sketchy pencil for line art + donā€™t have any additional texturing and the bottom two use a brush marker for line art with additional texture overlays. I can mix parts of the styles the other party like as well.Ā

The otherday I accepted a deal where I drew a halfbody and full body piece for a $10 adopt (https://toyhou.se/2052416.tbn). The other party wanted two full bodies and I brought it down.
Here art what the two traded pieces for the character looked like (each took about 3 hours).
Art for charac trade halfbody

Art for character full body (pose is arkward because we changed the viewpoint after the fact.)

Do you think the pricing for my art was fair?
Should I have done more or less? How much should I be doing per each adopt piece?

Basically, How much should I view my art as being when I am offering it to trade for an adopt?

Thanks again for your help, as this is all new to me >_<

OMG Ebiren-sama! This is like... EXACTLY what I needed! Ty so much for the detailed explanation and examples šŸ˜. I'm still new to all this so tysm! I was actually wanting to do an art -> design trade with you for either https://toyhou.se/6624832.tbn or https://toyhou.se/6745505.nin (do you know the creator for either of these?), but if you donā€™t wanna do a design trade, an art trade sounds fun!Ā

3 fulls + 5 halfs is alot šŸ˜Æ.Ā I honestly didnā€™t think that such a high-numbered trade was possible, so honestly didnā€™t think to offer for anything expensive. That's pretty cool actually.

Also, dumb question but what do people mean when they say customs?

I have a commission sheet set up and I send that to people I'm looking to trade with to decide what they're interested in from me. Usually, I say I'll offer up to what their adopt was purchased for with the rate of my art.

Ebiren-sama aaa ty! I honestly really like a lot of doll maker designs. They have a really good base to reference and draw from.
I'd love to trade for the kittydog šŸ˜. Who would you like for me to draw?

That's awesome that you are able to trade for it!

ohhh so that's what custom means!

Thanks once again for all your clarifications and help. I can finally understand what the posts in the Commerce forum meanĀ šŸ˜Ā

Ebiren-sama. Will do! I will get it back to you before next Monday night at the latest!

Honestly same šŸ˜‚. It's so cool to see all the characters people have and what they do with them.Ā I never paid attention to adopts/character trades/etc before joining ToyHouse because I never had a place to keep them, but now that I have a nice, organized virtual storage... Characters here I come šŸ˜†.
