What does ping mean 

someone pinged me and I don't know what to do

(it's on a tradeing form)

@Coffe-Cup - Pinging means someone is notifying that you are responding to them. To alert you of something in a thread. There is no way to reply to someone directly unless you are commenting on a bulletin or the comment section fo a profile as far as I know. So in any thread in the forum, you use @ + username to notify you are responding to them. HOWEVER, if you mess up typing someone's name in your intial comment and go back to edit, it WILL NOT ping them. Make a new comment with the correct spelling to notify them. On that note, if you are responding to someone at their thread, there is no need to ping them because replying in their thread already notifies them. You will just double notify them which is undesirable.
