The Forest for the Trees (Starter)

A thick canopy of leaves is often the home of an experienced Aurin. Shade, cover, and a lack of many ground-dwelling predators can make these leaves quite attractive.

But today something neon pink has started to reside there. Moro adjusts their scouter glass, nestling into the bough to camp for the night. For once, they couldn't help but feel a bit uncomfortable.

"Me nerves are workin' a bit tight today," they mumble, tying another rope across the boughs. Testing the tautness, they glance up through the shades of green into the starlit sky. One of the rings of Nexus cut through the night sky, slowly and wistfully turning in celestial space. The Chua couldn't help but finding themself stare, before refocusing at the task on hand. "Once I establish a perimeter, then I can work my way closer and skim for topography. Shouldn't be bad."

It wasn't until the Chua finished the last knot that they noticed a noise, and their eyes sprang wide open.

Kzzzt. Kzzt, Moro? Kzzt! Parameter secure?

Dajia's nose wrinkled up as it spoke into the mouthpiece of their headset, with ears perked for a response from their parent.

"Interference. Nuisance. Location secure here." The Chua spoke crisply to the mouthpiece, eyes darting across what would have been a gorgeous expanse of jungle green and another example of the boundless beauty Nexus had to offer if Dajia cared of such things.

"Moro copy?" Dajia spoke again, before reaching up to tap the eye visor holo hovering over one eye. "Team two, status?"

The Chua shoved down their annoyance at the lack of prompt responses from the Dominion crews that should have been checking in. They'd been sent in multiple scouting groups of various sizes to secure a large swath of Wilderrun and it seemed only Dajia's crew had made any progress, unless something was interfering with the Dominion comms?
