In my mind
No, but now seriously. I've been using refsheet lately (and i prefer it over toyhou.se), but it stills only have a 0.001% of all my oc content (still more than in toyhou.se). My brain is my favorite place for keeping oc info.
Hi hi! I was wondering, how do you guys organize your characters outside of toyhouse? I've seen some people using google docs, while others use refsheet.net.
It feels like a bad idea to blindly rely on toyhou.se as the only home for these guys (since if toyhouse goes POOF they will too), so I want to upload all their info in my usb stick (and my external hard drive for good measure), how would you go about it? I'm thinking about making a folder for each character, then make a excel masterlist to keep track of everyone.
I have them both in my brain and in very disorganized folders on my google drive. I have meant to organize them for years but decided to do so now with toyhouse to keep their info consistent between my documents and the profiles. What I started to do now is just copy the headers and info and paste them onto a document, and then keep my folders with refs/inspirations/faceclaims and such and pray that google drive won't shut down any time soon.
I need to have a side storage 💀
I lost my refsheet account when I switched to TH, and I only have my characters references stocked in a folder on my tablet+ some drawings on my phone + tablet camera roll. I wanted to create a drive but there's a limit, and my only external hard drive is not only short but also used for classes only (+ I don't have a PC at home).
Might remake a refsheet account to keep my characters and drawings in case something happens on TH, but I'd prefer to find a private place to store that. Might want to find a new hard drive that is compatible with phones or tabletsÂ
Okay so, TH is nice and all but I definitely don't want to rely on that only as well.Â
I have my ocs, and writing on my personal website and backup of that website (including all character profiles, writing and world) on my laptop. I do backups of that every other month. I use neocities and Cyberduck. But you can use any method. Best is if you are always able to back things up easily with two clicks.Â
Next, art. I have character art saved on a couple deceives. Phone, tablet, laptop. I also have two art Archiv Websites where I store every artwork. (Ranging from 2014 -now). As well as Google photos. Google photos lets you create folders as well which is nice for organising. I've a folder for every character. And it includes ALL art. While my archive doesn't include other people's art.
I use WorldAnvil and write  and save on my computer. Worldanvil is pretty cool, I think it started as a table top rpg site to save your GM data but it has so many worldbuilding sections that it is larger than when it started. It can be overwhelming but if you like worldbuilding I'd say go for it.
