For a while now, I've been trying to find headcanon voices for my OCs but have been struggling. I have an idea of what each one could potentially sound like, but I've been struggling to find a clip from a film, video, game, song, or show that fits remotely close to what I'm thinking. Recently, I've considered hiring voice actors to record voice samples of certain lines or quotes of my OCs that I can use to showcase what they sound like when speaking.
But, I don't know if it's really okay for me to do this or if I'm better off to keep looking, since it'll be only for this and likely nothing more. I do aspire to make a full project out of some of these projects featuring the characters, but it's not guaranteed.
Using clips from existing media is definitely the cheaper, more accessible option
But, if it makes you happy and you have enough funds to spare - I'd say go for it! It's such a cool idea honestly, do you already know where you'll be looking for voice actors?
Yanny I just created a Fiverr account and started looking. There are A TON of choices on that site, and I started narrowing a few VAs down so I can prepare some things and hopefully get something done in the future. I've also seen threads in other sites that talked about alternate sites like Voquet, Bodalgo, Bunny Studio, Casting Call Club, and Voices.com (if there are others who might be looking, and maybe for future reference myself just in case). I know a few freelance VAs are also scattered in various social media platforms, so I may consider finding some there, too.
