[PSA/Beware] Tracing: nemillustrationsart

God this sucks, I was kinda interested in a few of these characters they had for sale. But now that I see that it's traced artwork I'd rather not own one.
I'd understand if it was a base, since I tend to use bases seldom with the appropriate credit, but they're just straight up tracing.

I guess it's a good thing that I never bought anything, so thank you for bringing some awareness with this thread. 

Added more to the top post. I apologize if things are all over the place, I'm trying my best to keep it coherent, but I admit I'm not great at this. I tried checking nemi's profile while not logged in as I'm still blocked, but it's hard to read and it looks like nemi is just talking to themself, which I assume means they hide comments? Regardless, this whole situation is bizarre and I don't know how to comment. Has anyone gotten a refund from nemi before? It looks like they're claiming they've refunded two people already, and if you have been refunded, please let me know! AFAIK en-zu is still blocked as am I.

Nemi, if you see this post, I'm floofyowl on dA. I would love a refund as I never agreed to purchase traced/referenced art. I feel it's fair to ask for my money back now. Gonna have to unblock me for that though. Don't know what else to say. Best bet for those who own adopts from them would be to contact nemi and request a refund (which they explicitly have said). If that results in a block or being ignored, try going through PayPal and see if you have any luck. Sorry everyone.

novaraptor My wonderful friend went to bat for me and got me unblocked. I am currently working on a note to him and will update everyone here on how it goes.

Man this sure sucks, someone had noted me on dA about this. I bought an adopt a long while ago from them :( Good thing I was planning on redesigning/re-doing that character entirely whoof. Thanks much for letting people know, I hate when shit like this happens :/ I probably wont fight for refund/chargeback, it's such a hassle, but it's a good thing I held off on their other adopts or customs yikes.

Garghoul - I noticed that they deleted a few pieces of traced art. I've since reuploaded screenshots of them so it's better to keep track of.

His excuse of saying "Well why did you take so long" doesn't allow him to trace. Period. It doesn't matter how long someone who has paid him with assumptions that he draws his OWN art without tracing have every right to demand and get back a refund from him at any time.

Bring this to Paypal saying that he traced the artwork with proof (links only, don't link a thread) of what you recieved. Add in the word "genuine" if you have to since you thought his art was genuinely his own.

Good news! I got a response from Mitch Lucas, the artist behind Project Divider and the source of a good number of Nem's traces. Here's what he said:

Hopefully he will be able to make some headway in getting deviantart to shut down Nem's account. If anyone would like me to ask his advice on what folks who purchased designs should do, let me know and I will relay that on to him. I'm also going to respond to let him know that Nem follows him on instagram.

Sorry to say it is a trace :/ Just found it today on  one of the reposting accts Nem follows on insta. Not sure of the source artist (its not credited), but here is the upload from the reposting acct he follows: https://www.instagram.com/p/BtQ-z1al3pY/ 

Also looks like his insta is gone. Not familiar with insta but I'm assuming he's set it to private or changed his handle since we've been finding the source of his tracings through it. Fortunately I still have a lot of these accounts in my history, so I can continue to search.

Wow, I've grabbed a couple of designs from this person before, too (though I think one of them got swept up in the deletion bomb). I'm not really sure how to move from here - in my experience, people will pack up and run when called out, and reading through this thread is kind of speaking to it all getting similarly messy.

Worth a shot trying to get it back, but I'll otherwise eat that money, I suppose. Slimy. :/
