just sharing around this psa bc i almost just fell for it

deviantart has been recommending the account "LimesCafe" like crazy due to their insane output of anime-styled adopts using their new "adoptable" feature

well, yeah they use AI to generate these (evidence found in the journal above) and try to hide that fact by not tagging their posts until *after* people buy their adopts
i was shocked tbh because it's not the type of artstyle usually associated with AI art

stay vigilant guys with this shit guys - we don't want these types of bad actors infiltrating our community

LunarScythe3

What gets me the most is how they try to ”invalidate“ their “different styles” but saying it’s 3 different ppl 💀😀

silverbugs

LunarScythe3 yeah, its the lying that gets me too 💀

changing tags to ai only after theyre purchased is so shady... i wish these people were just honest so they get caught in tag blockers lol

LONG REPLY IM SO SORRY, I rant a lot. ^^"
But I saw this person too!!!! I almost fell for it too at first until I got a sussy feeling about it and dove a little deeper.

AI has literally gotten out of control on DA, especially with the adopts.

I honestly think a LOT of these AI adopt accounts are the some of the same people making multiple accounts and buying watchers or something (somehow getting 500-1000+ watchers in 5 days mind you, like I noticed Limescafe did- 2.1k watchers in 1 week? Yeah, the math aint mathin)

Here's  a few other accounts to be aware of and avoid like the plague- unlike Limescafe, some of them do say and tag things as AI, but in my mind, they all deserve to have a PSA thrown out about them because they don't deserve support
Especially when they do crap like making up sob stories or airing their "passion projects" they supposedly want to work so hard towards.
I just can't have sympathy towards these people. Not only is it just fake and lame, but considering they are using AI generators, they are quite literally stealing the work of hundreds of thousands of artists because AI programs take from EVERY image on the internet, and even worse, if they like a person's art style, they can simply add the name of the artist into the prompts to get a similar style in their pieces.

I'll add more to the list as I come across them!

https://www.deviantart.com/perseverances (also not tagging as ai)
https://www.deviantart.com/jellyfishcafe
https://www.deviantart.com/countingbeeps
https://www.deviantart.com/senchafox (this one also doesn't tag as ai and pretends that it's their own work)

silverbugs

sandkitcat eugh, thank you for sharing! had no idea about senchafox and have been seeing their stuff around. disappointing :/

glitterschizo

silverbugs Yeah, no problem!
And yeah, that was really a bummer, they had me fooled at first too. Sencha keeps popping up for me also, and upon further digging, her newer stuff like the "Adoptables" are absolutely AI. I talked to someone who messaged them how they do their process and they only came back with a .psd with 2 layers, one weirdly pixelated "sketch" and low res layer with both line art AND color- which would be a different story if it were digital paintings, but they're not, and basically her whole "process" that she explains makes no sense. She said she would show her process to this person and has remained quiet ever since. Even if she does do edits and tweaks them, they are definitely at least 85% ai.

Also Just added another to the list- they made their account 2 days ago, already have 300+ watchers, and ironically, is also one of the few accounts "Jellyfishcafe" and "Limescafe" are watching.

I'll try to keep coming back and updating that comment as I find new developments!

sandkitcat I did dig deep into Sencha's gallery, and I discovered that most of their stuff from around 2020 and before were actual genuine art and not the AI stuff they're doing now. Definitely sucks that they went into an AI-oriented direction though.

glitterschizo

Lilina Yeah, that's what I noticed too. :"/
You can tell the big leap in style difference and such, and the others look so much more authentic.
It really does suck- I've seen a multitude of artists on DA who were actually doing their own art but then turned to the temptation of AI instead to make a quick buck. Like, I'd much rather see authentic work from artists rather than the soulless AI products! The generators are good and getting better, but for some reason there is something about them that I'm usually able to pick out and identify as AI either right away or after a moment of looking at them.

I genuinely hope that maybe Sencha will actually go back to doing their own work and drop the AI act, along with other artists who decided to drop their own art for AI, but it's not likely, at least not in the forseeable future that is. Sencha seems dead set on insisting that the AI is fully their own illustrations, which is the part that makes me the most frustrated I think!

ZeroZeroSenpai

ive seen them around for a while i thought it was a really fish style and the fact the account was only a few weeks old with 100's of posts hhhhng
