I did a trade with an artist several months ago allowing them to use my Origin account (they were seeking a way to play sims 4 in exchange for art as at the time they couldn’t afford to purchase it and the expansions). They went four months without finishing my piece. So I ended up locking them out of my account to be safe, just in case you know? Finally, they message me back because they went to get on the game and couldn’t because I locked them out and they needed the access code and to let me know (after they came back that is) that they went on hiatus due to exams.

I understand and wasn’t bothered because at least they had gotten back to me. It has only been like a month at this point. I let them have the code and they started their half of the trade. A few days later, they sent me a sketch of the trade and it was pretty rad. They seemed to be active again and even said I inspired them to do a new ref for their character!

I had been eyeballing one of their characters for sale since our initial trade and had finally decided on purchasing her. Because they had been hella active I purchased her and commissioned two ref sheets from them as they had just opened commissions again and added a new ref style. Of course, I paid on goods and services because... common sense.

Anyways, the character is mine and all. They reply for awhile, then die again. I asked for several updates and got silence. I got two replies later on, one saying they lost the initial sketch to our trade and had to restart it. They did send me a sketch of the new sketch. The next reply was them working on my commission and sending a sketch, however they drew the wrong character.

We had previously discussed a different character when I asked how much they were charging. However, when I paid I clearly specified and they asked for double confirmation which characters I was commissioning art for, they acted like they understood. I let them know they drew the wrong character but if they wanted to substitute that piece for our trade I wouldn’t mind since they had already started it.

Well, when they replied they didn’t know what trade I was talking about. So I had to explain, and then they remembered (could have scrolled up in the chat though..) and told me they’re never active on there anymore so they can’t remember who is who anymore but that they will set the conversation as their lock screen so they remember in the morning, I’m like alright that’s fine.. Time passes and I check in for an update. Silence. At the end of that month I check in both there and on their deviant art just in case their phone is broke or something, silence.

I checked in again today asking for a refund and haven’t heard back. It’s been a total of six months (four months since the commission) throughout this and I’m not sure if I should file a beware if they do not respond. What do you guys make of this? I’m very patient with artists and understand if life comes in the way because you gotta take care of yourself. However, this person has barely communicated with me at all over this time.

I don’t want to be super pushy or screw them over but it has been a looooooong time and that was a $42 commission as well as expensive account details and they haven’t been very active or responsive so I feel bad, but at the same time I’m not sure how far to take this as I’ve only gone to a beware once, and it was for character theft not something like this.

If have reached out for a refund. If they do not reply soon, I will go through PayPal. I will keep the thread updated with screenshots as well if there are more. If they happen to ever respond and explain they had a really bad time and lost internet or something, I will consider removing this beware against the, as long as I have received my refund.

Updates:

- A dispute has been filed.

- Still no response on their end.

- Found to have traced or heavily reference other people's bases (one of which was p2u) and claim it as their own sketches. (Bases by Momo-Digital/Oreo_Raven & Yoko-Darkpaw *P2U Base*)

- I have won the dispute, the user never did get back to me.

- They have had their account banned from furry amino!
