omg I definitely want to make one, i love the lore... since they are described as senseless creatures floating aimlessly and etc, do they still kinda have personalities or some knowledge/intelligence? like if they were to possess a human for example, will they just be like clueless newborns?

they are senseless, completely unable to perceive the world around them, left to float aimlessly and unseen to the human eye.
some null fish may have accents, or even be, of another colour,
but the typical null fish are all black isopod-like creatures with a white eye and a tail with a claw.
all null fish have an instinctual longing to possess physical forms. to do this, some null fish will absorb a living being's soul.
and thus, they can take form of the creature, though some of their traits will also manifest on their new body, such as their antennae or tail.
a null fish with enough power might be able to possess humans, or even beings of myth, like dragons or other such creatures.
unfortunately, as a soul is absorbed into a null fish, they will slowly deteriorate as they reject their new vessel. this may take a year, or less for others.
when the soul fully disappears, the null fish will return to their original form, losing all their senses and even their memories of being 'alive'.
a null fish is able to maintain their form by consuming more souls, but risk discord between multiple souls, which may cause them to transform into a chimera.
chimeras are mindless monsters, forced to suffer until they can return into their original form.
while all null fish have white eyes (alternatively, a solid red or yellow for some), they all actually have unique 'real' eyes,
which can be seen when they transform after absorbing a soul.
similar to their eyes, a null fish also has 'real' colouring, which they'll maintain no matter how many times they transform.
so that's pretty much it for null fish baybee uwu

QShiina ty! they'd retain some sort of base personality, but also absorb the soul's own memories! so a null fish will be pretty clueless alone, but if they absorb an adult deer's soul for example, they'll know how to walk and will instinctually avoid predators, etc.
