Deep within the arctic ice fields reside a secretive species of  merpeople that live beneath the glaciers: the ianthina. The outside  world fears them as ferocious pirate raiders—or, at best, valuable traders—but in reality, they are a deeply community-oriented people, willing to do anything to survive the harsh seas. In spite of their  tough exteriors, there is one adage they adhere to, echoed in every  ianthina home:

"You don't need to go alone."

Ianthina are a semi-open species of humanoids featuring flowing fins and glowing freckles. Among them you'll find fierce warriors, moving singers,  graceful dancers, reliable builders, and much much more. Full lore on their society can be found in the MYO (detailed) guide (it is still receiving regular updates at this time), but even among such a close-knit species, there are those who've rejected the old ways and left, establishing a number of Southern Enclaves. Will your ianthina brave the polar wastes and stand with their people? Or will they turn their back and face the outside world?

How to Acquire

Getting an ianthina is pretty simple; we have a low bar for entry, which is why we define ourselves as open. You can acquire one in one of several ways:

• Joining the world and posting a bulletin about the species earns you one MYO slot (all rarities included! except mutations)
  
• Adopt an ianthina from our currently available designs
  
• Posting about your ianthina on the world's forums, creating fanart for others' ianthina, developing the designs you have, and generally spreading the word about the species are an additional way to earn more MYO slots and access legendary traits. The forums are set up for RP, sharing art/writing, and more!
