HELLO. whew closed species are kind of a lot of work. uh. hi :D
i'm worm!!! i've been essentially grinding out art to prepare for the launch of my (first) closed species - athenai! it's been a couple weeks of drawing and figuring stuff out since my first athenai post here and my friends and i have made a lot of progress in terms of design, logistics, and even discord server!!! in the process of working this out i even learned to code world, so that was cool)
before i give you guys the big news, i'd like to show you some of the stuff we've been up to so far! let's start with some cool traits we've come up with:
so early on we had the idea to give athenai objects they were bound to that only worked in their hands. this developed into the concept of relics, objects born from dreams that are part of a phenomenon known to many athenai as the yearwalk. athenai who have these dreams wake up with the urge to replicate an object they saw in that dream, and this object becomes the athenai's relic, which is only truly effective in the hands of its creator. for example, this staff!
another thing we thought of are teloi - crystal-tipped wings with which athenai break the laws of physics. these protrude out of an athenai's lower back and are capable of extending/retracting, allowing them to channel the power of their soul into metaphysical anomalies that break the laws of reality. (bonus points if they have realistic extension mechanisms!)
that was just two of the many traits we've developed so far... and now for some a taste of some of the art i've done for the species:
