Update: Over the past few months I've redone the subspecies, leaving only the ones I like. I also removed the fusing because I thought it was creating too many subspecies (but maybe I'll bring it back later, in a different form). I also put more effort into the presentation of the subspecies (which I'm very happy with), redrew the "welcome" picture (with brief information about the species), and drew additional explanatory information to it

Thanks for stopping by to see the update or for the first time!!! I find comments really helpful, so I'd love it if you'd leave your feedback on my idea!

Molgoo [mɒlgu:] are anthropomorphic creatures, originally mold symbionts that mixed with animals and evolved into what they are today. Molgoo are found in different territories, on the ground, under it, in the air, and even underwater.

I'm still working out the body features and still drawing most of the visuals! (I'm also not a native speaker, so there may be mistakes,,,,,,,)

Anatomy

Starting from top to bottom, let's talk first of all about the head. The molgoo lacks eyes, nose, and ears, and the mouth is not fully functional.

Molgoo are missing eyes due to the immune rebellion of the absorbed ancestors. The absence of nose and ears is due to the slick skin of converted ancestors. The mouth, on the contrary, is present. There are no lips on the outside of the mouth, and the mouth contains only a pharynx through which food is absorbed. Food is grasped by a long sticky tongue, compressed like a spring in the mouth. The Molgoo opens its mouth and releases its tongue like a frog to grab the food and bring it straight to the mouth. And their nose is a small round bump, which is used by individuals to identify and touch each other.

Instead of the usual ways of knowing the world, molgoo have 4 kinds of locators: water, air, fire, and earth locators. Each of the locators picks up the magic of one of the elementals of the planet. The locators constantly release the molgoo's body magic, and pick up the signal of the Elementals and other molgoo. Thus their way of navigating the world is a kind of echolocation.

Locators

  • Air locators located on the top of the head inside the two antennas. The shape of the locator is round with a hole in the middle (doughnut)
  • Water locators are located in the ear drum. The shape of the locators is a spiral with a small branch.
  • Locator of fire is a spiral on the chest. Unlike all the others, the locator of fire is always on the surface of the body and is not hidden in anything.
  • Earth locator is located in the tip of the tail. The tip of the tail can have a variety of shapes, but the locator itself is spiral in shape.

Types of molgoo

75921127_2vNrJ6VXnZlIrOG.pngLAND SUBTYPE:Absorbed wild crops and plants growing in meadows have taken the form of Land Molgoo. They appear in fields, meadows, and steppes. They need water, food, heat, and other things to live, but their main diet is farm crops, vegetables, fruits, and berries.

75932908_J9uGL5sjWD3YEFL.pngFOREST SUBTYPE:Absorbed large woolly animals that live in forests and pre-forests have taken the form of Forest Molgoo. They dwell predominantly in forests. They need water, food, warmth, and other things for sustenance, but their main diet is meat, grass, and berries in the wild, and farm crops in urban settings.

So far I've only drawn visuals for the first two subspecies, but I have text for a few more!

CAVE SUBTYPE: Absorbed cave animals and rocks, have taken on a new form in the form of Cave Molgu. They are light-sensitive and primarily nocturnal, requiring water, food, warmth, and other necessities for sustenance, and their primary diet is roots, precious and non-precious stones, fossils, and metals. These molgoo have different antennae and shell, can have horns and spikes (and a couple other traits)

RIVER SUBTYPE: Absorbed aquatic dwellers have taken on a new form in the form of River Molgoo. Their bodies need constant hydration and more water intake, so they live near freshwater bodies or in swamps. This subtype feeds on vegetables, fruits, meat, insects, shells and corals. They have scales, a different kind of shell (in the form of sea shells (I love them so much...)), and also a fish tail. On the surface of their body they can grow moss and algae (which are part of the molgoo body).

AVIAN SUBTYPE: Absorbed flying animals, mostly birds, have taken on a new form in the form of the Flying Molgoo. They rarely lead sedentary lives, preferring to nomadize and fly to warmer regions. They require water, food, warmth, and other necessities for sustenance, and are omnivorous and have no particular diet. Have wings, feathers, extra limbs, elongated limbs, elongated body, may have horns and spikes on the body

DEEPWATER SUBTYPE: Absorbed underwater dwellers have taken on a new form in the form of Deep Sea Molgu. They spend most of their lives underwater, occasionally rising to the surface. They require constant hydration, food, and cool temperatures. This subtype feeds on fish, coral, shells, crustaceans, and algae. They have scales, tentacles, different kinds of carapace and antennae, bioluminescence, shimmering and glowing flesh, transparency, and Color shift (for now)

I also have one limited subtype related to object absorption. And presumably two modified ones: a predatory subtype that contains bones and flesh (I like a bit of a horror component), and possibly a preserving subtype that contains an animal in its body (and is somewhat just fusion)

Reproduction

Reproduction in molgoo remains unchanged! They can grow an embryo in their tail if they are in perfect conditions, which means that they reproduce by pathogenesis. But since the very essence of molgoo is to consume organic matter, their birth and development occurs under certain conditions (which I will describe and draw later, when I finish all the basic species information).

World

The planet molgoo has four elementals in its territory. They are closely related to the species, and help molgoo navigate the environment and live their best life. Since last time, I have changed the molgoo's habitat. It will now be a large continent with different territories, animals, plants, and on and on. Elementals are also not available for molgoo to explore, so information about them is secret!!!!

And I'll talk a bit about society: molgoo are not a very advanced species in terms of technology, and they are around the stone-iron age (I guess?) (I like to think that their world is as advanced as the world of minecraft...).

That's it for now! I'll still be working on the world in toyhouse to make everything nice and clear. I also continue to work on discord, because I will have to realize my ideas, but for now this information is a secret!!!! I also have a lot of visual information and design to do. I want to finish this kind of information before the release of the species, so I can give more of my attention to administering and moderating the discord channel (this will be my first experience, so I'm scared...)

These  very cute, well thought through and presentation is A++. Not entirely my niche of species, but for what they are I think they are amazing and there's obviously a big audience out for these kinda dudes.

Simplifying is also a great decision. Speaking form personal experience, you can always add more sub-species and customization as you go on and I've seen a lot of species owners burn out after trying to be too many things at once and sorta loosing track of themselves between half-finished projects.
