Hey everyone! Here I am announcing my LunEar Species. Some of the info can be found here LunEars. However, I did make a world that has additional information. There currently is one official LunEar Running around that I gifted to a friend of mine, though the art needs to be updated for the accuracy of the species as I did change something later on.

I am going to go ahead and copy and paste some info here.

A tribe has long been forgotten by time and modern day. Have made a reappearance in this world. From their home island of Lundberg, these creatures with knowledge of any condition or terrain . Though, it seems some LunEars are more efficient with one terrain over another. Normally, a peaceful group under their leader (name) their goal is to lend aid to others.

LunEars are an interesting species that tend to have an affinity for magic. They are ruled by one element, normally of one matching the season they were born in. It is unusual to see an affinity that does not match their season, but it can happen especially among those who bred with another out of their season/affinity.

Not much is known about the species other than their lack of modern technologies and the name of their native language Linguis. These creatures are often rather shy and cautious with strangers but warm up rather quickly.

LunEars from Birth to Elder

LunEars have a decent lifespan and live on average to the age of eighty or so, though it has been noted that the oldest LunEar was around 130 after passing away! Newborn LunEars are born with no horns, short ears that stick up, and short tails. Some toddler LunEars start growing horns around this stage, but not all. The ears and tail also start beginning to grow for most of them save for a small portion of them. By Adult years their ears, tails, and horns should be fully grown. As they reach elder years their head ornament starts to crack and wither, as well as their horns have become somewhat brittle and can break off if care is not taken with them.

Living as a LunEar

LunEars live on an island with no modern technology. They believe in living off the land and being happy with what they have. Their community is very a close-knit, sharing and assisting others daily. Each LunEar has a role in their society: hunters, gathers, spiritual guides, and herbologists. Since LunEars live off the land, nature is just outside their little villages. There are certain creatures out there that are very dangerous, though normally they do not venture into the villages created by the LunEars.

An interesting thing to note about the LunEars is their tail, which has a pointed tip that is pen-like. As a cultural practice, they use these to write as it is far more intimate, at least that is what they believe. They create their own special ink using berries and other natural ingredients. Each LunEar’s ink is very personal to them as they all make their own with their own formula.

LunEars’ Appearance

LunEars have a handful of features that are unique to their species. Most notably is their “seasonal marker”, horns, ears, and tail. Their seasonal marking is an item that is on their forehead that shows you exactly what season they were born in. Ice crystals mark a winter born, a flowering branch marks spring (which blossom in the spring), a green leaf for summer, and a leaf of a different color for fall. Their horns which in most cases don’t exist, a single set of horns (uncommon), a dual set of horns (rare), and a single horn (legendary). Their ears carry an interesting trait. The most notable thing is that they have different patterns on them. Their right ear will always be much more intricate than the left one. Another point is that their right ear symbolizes the season they were born in, and their left symbolizes the element that they use. Their ears are most commonly so long that they touch the ground, ears that reach to half their body (uncommon), short ears that are no longer than up to their shoulders (rare), and upright short ears (legendary). Their tails are super special! Their tails, as mentioned in Living as a LuneEar, have a pen-like tip that they use to write with. Their tails are most commonly very long, a medium size tail (uncommon), a short tail (rare), and dual tails (legendary) which can come in any size length.
