Silk Basics

ABOUT / LORE

Silks are a species of humanoid with an affinity for elemental magic and the flow of energy that surrounds them. They are immediately identified by their twin-tail feature and the familiar that flutters at their sides called Shayura.

It's believed by many that their roots started with the beginning of magic and were children of the first Divine Silks. However, others speculate that Divines are born of an ancient dying god's remaining magic. From Divines, Silk ancestors were granted protection and the ability to wield a specific element, becoming more like their patron(s).

While it's all lore and legend, Silks agree that they possess an undeniable tether to the ethereal realm.

ELEMENTS

Elemental ability is a basic part of every Silk's identity. While there are some exceptions to the rule - Markless and Divines - each Silk is equipped with a least one elemental ability as they transition into the later stages of puberty. Elements do pass on from parent Silks, but very rarely they can skip a generation or two. The time that they do start to explore their power is the same time Shayura are easiest to befriend.

For more information on the elements and what changes have been made, please check chapter two of this guide!

RARITY TRAITS

BODY TYPES

DAINTY SILK

ROBUST SILK

uncommon

The uncommon type among the three. These Silks are larger and beefer, towering over the others. While robusts can sometimes appear in batches, they are seen more often in auctions.

SPECIAL RARITY TRAITS

These traits are ultra rare or unique, showing up seldom in batches and auctions. Of this category, special Silks called Blessed consists of all their traits being elementally infused, morphing the shape and texture of their tails, base tails and ears. Water Silks are the only elemental type to hold this affinity by default. On the opposite side of the spectrum are Markless Silks, Silks with absolutely no elemental ability and no markings - making them incapable of befriending Shayura. These are few and far inbetween. Other special rarity traits can be influenced by seasonal themes, such as transparent snowglobe-themed, or foggy-themed traits and on-body features

For more information on Blessed traits and Markless, please check chapter two of this guide!

SHAYURA

Shayura, in Silk language, means spirit *(sha) eye *(yura). Just as they're called, Shayuras are spirit creatures that gather in large groups called hives. They all have a queen, a special spirit tree that produces them from their branches. Silks are one of the few species that Shayuras can be tamed by. When tamed, they mimic the designs, patterns, colors and even the elemental benefits of their Silk. Some go as far as to change shape based on the theme of their Silk. Although few have mouths, they communicate through an internal organ that makes a rhythmic tick only they can sense. They also use it for echolocation, but in terms of communicating outside of their groups, they can adapt to a language once exposed to it for several months. Once they've grasp the basics, they will start speaking through telepathy. They have their own personalities and natures that influence them to behave in a certain manner.

Tier 1

Tier one Shayura hold very basic appearances. They usually just have an eye with some color and symbols. They can't summon weapons or magic clothing yet, but they can conjure food. They don't exactly have a strong bond with their Silk and can easily wander off or return to the wild if ignored long enough. Not yet able to hold complex conversations.

Tier 2

Tier two Shayura inherit a spherical shape and are larger than their Tier I phase. They also adopt designs very similar to their Silk, be it a lantern type of look, a water blob or something more flowery. They can grow gems and other things on their bodies based on the element and traits of their Silk companion. At this stage, they can summon simple magical items and are able to hold simple conversations telepathically.

Tier 3

Tier three Shayura are larger than their former tier II versions. They can develop mouths and a second eye depending on the design of their Silk. Sometimes they may gain additional wings if their Silk has the very rare winged basetail. A Shayura that companions a sweet tooth Silk will automatically transform into a tier III sweet tooth Shayura once their Silk transforms. Able to forge stronger magical items.
