The house was quiet for once, save for the persistent pitter-patter of raindrops on windows. Blue Jeans let out a relaxed sigh as he headed for the living room, enjoying the peaceful atmosphere that the rain provided.

He paused as he spotted a familiar figure standing silently in front of one of the windows, silhouetted slightly by the dim light that came from outside. S was looking out at the rain, a mug in his hands giving off a pleasant aroma. Blue crossed the room towards him.

"That tea's going to get cold if you don't drink it."

S looked back at him, giving him a smile that didn't reach his eyesockets. "...Yeah, I know."

Blue stood next to him, watching the trees through the window as they swayed in the wind. "Something on your mind?"

S shrugged, fidgeting with his mug but not sipping from it. "Just... thinking about stuff. Nothing important."

The smaller skeleton wasn't meeting his gaze. Blue set a hand on his shoulder gently. "You're brooding."

S fidgeted again with his mug, which, despite being full, wasn't giving off any steam. It must already be cold...

"I-I know I shouldn't be, I just... I can't stop thinking, what if I hadn't-"

Blue leaned down and tapped his teeth to the top of his husband's skull before he could finish his sentence. "It's in the past, S. You can't change the past; you have to focus on today, and what you can do to make things better now."

"I know... I know all that, I do. I remind myself of it every single day. But..." S finally met his eyelights, and it Blue felt a pang in his own soul at the raw grief that his expression still held. Tears were welling up in his eyesockets now, and his hands had begun to tremble, sending ripples through the surface of the tea that he held.

"How do I get my heart to accept it..?"
