Background:
Dixie is a retired guard, but didn't retire due to old age. She was put off duty after having been attacked by a dragon with a corrosive bite - leaving her partially blinded and scared from intense burns. She is now mostly blind knowing her left eye - her right side was mostly unaffected by the burns. She was protecting her home/territory/life when she encountered the dragon and had to fight. She still feels ashamed and sure she could have done something diffrent; however, no matter how much this scene plays in her head she can never think of other outcomes. What she is told was she did her best and is now honored for her courage, yet she still holds onto the memory.
Some time later she moves out of Tucrotoria and down to Sequano around the mau'zun mountains after buying a plot of land from a young rubasyn named Basil. This is where she encounters a dragon who grew up in the wilds for as long as he can remember. She befriends him and brings him to her tea shop where she teaches him to speak better common and befriend others. Since having lived in Sequano now for a couple decades she has felt more relieved and relaxed. She's enjoying her early retirement from the military and making friends with other residents of the town.
