Lightning streaks across the sky, briefly illuminating the city below. It looks better in the dark. Lost souls hurry for shelter as the first drops of rain hit the pavement. From atop her perch, she watches. The rain doesn’t bother her any. She lets it run over her face and down her back without breaking her concentration.

Out of the corner of her eye, she spots him. Walking slowly, studying the houses as he went. A man looking for trouble. Luckily for him, trouble is already watching. She waits for him to make his selection. As soon as he chooses his mark, she goes in.

”I’ll give you one chance to surrender.” She says. The man doesn’t respond. He tries to move away, but she stops him. She grabs his arm and slams him into the wall. The man tries to fight her off. He struggles and manages to block a few of her blows. Then she throws him onto the ground, planting a boot firmly on his back. “Say you’re sorry, criminal!” She commands.

”Lady, what the fuck?!” The man yelled. He struggled to keep his face off the damp sidewalk.

”Apologize, criminal, and I may let you go.” Trix said.

”This is my house. Get the fuck off of me!”

Trix adjusted her shoulder pads. “I’ll have to take you in.”

“Fine, I’m sorry, for whatever. Just get. Off. Of. Me!!”

Trix let the man get up. She waited for him to walk away. When he didn’t leave, she took the knife off her thigh. “Go.” She commanded.

He clenched his fists. ”I live here, psycho!” Trix stood patiently in front of his door. Eventually, he relented and headed back to the bar, cursing all the way.

That was one evil vanquished, but there is always more. The hero uses the rain to clean the blood from her knuckles. As the downpour begins, the streets empty out. The lost souls have gone elsewhere. The hero resumes her post and waits.
