Summary

So ‘Fang’ starts off as a normal human believe it or not. Having come to Megapolis for work, she’s also a big nerd for the Monkey King. This would take place at least 10 or so years before the show starts. However DBK was never locked under a mountain, instead de-powered and left to ravage together his court n’ such. And it’s at this point that Wukong really wants a successor because he’s tired of fighting and just wants a day off from it all.

So enter Fang. Who comes to the city, they’re a transfer from another city, they work for an animation company or something. They’re staying in a suite hotel by themselves while they’re there to propose some ideas and help with stuff over there.

Well while she’s out lounging about she sets her sights on visiting all the coolest locations in the city, including a temple a bit of a ways outside the city in the mountains. And upon visiting the temple up there she takes note of the abundance of monkey’s in the area, and after offering a snack to one, they surprisingly let her in through the front gate where she explores the place.

Being the nerd she is, she finds it quite enamoring to be looking back on some old aspects of history, weapons, armor, even if it is all dusty and it looks like no one’s really lived here in a while. Upon finding an old shrine inside the temple she dust off a small plate and onto it sets a peach. Before retreating back, seeing as it was getting late. Only to run into a stranger (Wukong) who claims they oversee the temple. (Who was curious to see who had left them an offering in a place so unused)

Fang claims that she was just sightseeing and one of the monkey’s let her in funnily enough. The keeper of the temple doesn’t seem too keen, but she brushes off their concerns and simply tells them that there’s no harm with a little fun. The shrine keeper warned her to ‘Be careful what you wish for.’ Before finally watching her leave.

Going to her job the next morning for a meeting however presents a problem, as something strange begins to happen to her. Suddenly she begins to turn into a monkey herself, fur, tail, ears, ect. Even her antic’s show the same.

Left in a panic she isn’t sure what to do with herself, until she recalls what had happened yesterday. And she frets that maybe she might have done something to upset the Monkey King. So doing what she could to cover up she runs off back to the shrine in the mountains.

Returning there for the start bears no real results, as she calls out to the shrine keeper.

It isn’t until a bit of meddling around the shrine is she finally confronted by the shrine keeper, who teases her, outright claiming that they’d warned her of the consequences for her actions. To which she begs the shrine keeper to help her find a means to change back, claiming she’d do anything to do so.

And of course Wukong being the trickster he is, while pretending to still be the shrine keeper, claims to her an outrageous task that no mere mortal is capable of. And the look on her face is enough to send him spiraling into a fit of laughter to the point he breaks his disguise and introduces himself.

And while Fang is at first in awe of the other, she in turn then points out asking whether or not he was serious about that whole ‘impossible task’, before he replies that of course he wasn’t. Doesn’t mean he won’t take up her offer however, and claims then that he wants her to help him with some stuff. She isn’t quite sure, but he states that he’ll change her back after he’s had his fun, and in turn drags her along his nimbus before riding off elsewhere.

He ends up dragging her along through a bunch of shenanigans, a few of them with her regarding the current age and what things have changed, apparently he hasn’t left his home island in a long time. She asks him then what his home is like, having only heard the stories written about it, to which he picks her up and zips them off to Flower Fruit Mountain.

It’s there that Fang wanders about in awe, finding glee and wonder in the place before the two eventually settle at a sunset eating snacks. Fang can’t hardly believe the day she’s had, noting how it all just felt like a dream, and Wukong pointing out how it kind of felt the same to him too.

She asks him why, and he plainly states he hasn’t really talked to anyone in a while. She asks him if he has any friends, to which he tries to brush it off but she gives him a sad look and asks if that was the reason she is here now. And reluctantly he admits to it, but also because he was hoping to find someone worthy. He doesn’t quite elaborate but she does state that she’d be happy to hangout with him while she’s in the city. He’s overjoyed! And of course holds up his end of the bargain and changes her back to a human before taking her back home.

For the next few weeks the two enjoy one another’s company, both learning more about each other. Until eventually…

Fang has to leave to return back to her home outside of the city and farther West in the country. Wukong is sad to see his new friend go just like the other’s, but she states that her job needs her and that without it she can’t quite make a living.

That’s when Wukong makes her an offer of his own. And presents to her the title as his successor. She thinks he’s just pulling her leg, but after a moment realizes he’s serious and she isn’t sure what to think of it. She can’t fight, ‘I’ll train you’, she doesn’t have much confidence, ‘you’ll grow into it!’, not to mention she doesn’t have a place to live either, and it isn’t exactly cheap in Megapolis either.

“You can stay with me!”

He’s really desperate for her to stay huh? Wukong then goes onto explaining how he’s always been there for the city, never leaving his place and waiting for the next demon to pop up and cause a big enough mess for him to clean up and he’s sick of it! He just wants to go on vacation and enjoy life without having to fight for it anymore…

She feels pity for the guy, all he’s ever done is fight.

Fang isn’t sure if the job is right for her but she relents and says she’ll give it a try, but outright tells him that if they wanted to stay friends he could’ve just asked for her phone number or email.
