Explicit Violence

Following the life of this Wizard, Killian Grey, as he tries to make his world, and his heart, whole again.

a small light shines, that overtakes the screen, and an island comes into view

[++while there were many factors that contributed, the life i led was ultimately my choice.]

play lv 1 plot and play is in ch1


lv 2 is baby wizards intro, now on choices will be logged as + and - under the name "social event"
final social passing count will determine level paths PER LEVEL
setting is a massive island with focus on the remains of a smaller island, which had earlier crashed into it.
level is a large rectangular focused area, swarming with bad actors and magical enemies.
killian will note where three areas of interest are, but you can only access two of them.
one area of interest is impossible not to head through though, this is where the little wizard "scrub the shrub" will be recruited.
they will not leave the party until the very end of the game.
area of interest two will be something appealing, but contrary to self preservation interests just enough to provide a -1 social event value
third area of interest will be "scrub"s home island. here you can collect a bush that on every consequent level, will provide berries that can revive/ group heal 50% the party
in area three there will still be a -/+ social event
players should be aware of their conduct, or made aware by this point? undecided.
either way, killian will comment by the end of the level what route you're setting yourself up on.
lv 3
if by the end of this level the player loses both cats the player will be sentenced to bad route "only having each other"
undecided if this route is further split between bad and worse endings

on the words "it's harsh" show an image of a cold, windy landscape. near barren.tiny travelers for scale.
on the words "it's unforgiving" show an image of a blisteringly hot landscape, no vegetation. tiny travelers for scale.

"but somehow i'm still here. and i have an eternity to effect it."
on the words "i'm still here" fadein the CG of the wizard Killian, resting on a log with his cats.
on the words "i have an eternity to effect it" fadein the same cg, but close distance on his hands.
fade to black
"for better or for worse."

in game show trail level with wizard killian resting on the log with his cats.

killian stands, and walks one space down onto the path.
killian: "alright, everyone. ready to go home?"
labert: puts down book "yes"
viva: jumps up onto feet "yeup!"
killian: flips cape "let's go."
killians avatar now points twords the right to continue
player now gets to move

going left prompts the text:
killian: "we have all we need from this trip. time to go home."

going right follows this conversation:
viva: "i can't wait to have (currently unnamed character)'s cooking again!!"
viva: "not that (previous city)'s cooking wasn't good. but i miss home."


labert: "i'm so happy with the books i got this time around, especially this copy of current market prices."
viva: "i know you're in charge of our G, but it's still weird to hear you're happy to have a receipt, of all things."
labert: "it's not just a receipt!! it's a ledger detailing the current economic fluctuations of (previous city) and their trades with-..."
change killians sprite to a smiling one
viva: "*sigh*"
"labert continued to ramble about the economics of kitty coin."


coming upon a plant, killian stops in his tracks and points it out
killian: "hm, viva, labert. come here and look at this."
labert: "yes sir?"
viva: "what's up?"

fadein CG of all three of them looking at this plant.

killian: "i forgot they existed it has been so long, but now that"
++"these plants are sprouting up again we should be on the lookout. they-"
labert: *interrupts* "what are they?"
killian: ".. they are a special medicinal plant that show up when"
++" the world magic is particularly unbalanced."
killian: "they are not completely gone from the world in other times."
++"but they do become rare in most areas."

viva: "what did you mean when you said 'unbalanced' ?"
labert: "the magic in our world flows like a river. from the core, to the islands,"
++"to the things that live on the islands."
++ "When too much is in one area; whether it be the core,"
++the islands, or the creatures,"
labert "Things get off balanced. and everyone gets 'moody."
killian: "moody is a funny way to put it, but very accurate."
killian: "we should collect these while we can. Labert, you might want one for the living section of the library."
labert: "oh yes you're right, definitely"

fade to game
you receive 2 medicinal plant

killian: "..."
"the party came to a stop."
viva: "*sniffs*"
labert: "..?"
labert: "what's wrong?"
viva: "i,, don't know. i don't like it"

the party is allowed to continue right
(if player backtracks) *vivas character model switches to "fearful"*
++ "viva wraps their arms around his self. labert now recognizes somethings off."

viva: ".. there's definite-y something off.  Dunno what it is though."
killian: "it's like the wind is carrying a weight."
"labert looks increasingly uncomfortable."

killian: "..."
killian: "I think there's something wrong with the island."
*laberts character model switches to "fearful"*
*if not already activated, vivas character model switches to "fearful"*
"labert tucks his tail between his legs"

killian: "but i don't know to what."
labert: "My lord,, this is a bad thing /how/?"
killian: "you ever just know you're coming home"

event: the descent of home island

animated event processing

CG of island from below, the sun shines above the library, the shine is exaggerated for 2sec
the island is then engulfed by magic
//hm, i think i should go through the trouble of animation for this.//
wisps of glowing magenta and swirling baby blue have completely encased the island, reaching from below.

labert: "what, what is that!?"
"the party can only watch in despair."

as the above text reads out, the island is then pulled into the core,
camera following as it descends beyond several layers of islands.
their home fades into the fog of the core. camera rising from it to the foot of the amazed party.
viva has dropped to his knees and is in shock.
labert has the worst look of distress, mouth agape and on the edge of tears.
killian can only look into the abyss, face in false neutrality.
the camera zooms into the wizard killians eyes, which swirl in gold and flecks of silver.
his mind is focused, mental gears whirring.

CG- viva is in the grass looking in the distance

the camera as close to ground level, observing from center right
viva: "what, was, that."

CG partial edit- viva looks up, right. at killian who is standing.
Killian: ".."
++"our island was pulled into the core."

CG-camera raises from ground level to knee level, lens adjusts so labert is in bounds
labert: "but. why.."
killian: "..sometimes things like this just happen."
labert: "but, our island.."
labert: *crying icon* "..."
CG- labert joins viva in the grass, weeping.

fade to black, we are back to the game.

viva and labert are sitting in the grass a step to the right of killian.
the size of their character sprites don't allow for too much detail, but you know they're upset
you cannot go left of the grass patch. you must comfort the cats.

killian:".."
++"what just happened was, unexpected."
killian *icon looks to distance* "i know it is shocking, terrifying."
killian: *icon neutral* ".. but we cannot sit here for long."

viva: "..is everyone okay?"
killian: "they are probably very shaken up right now, but i expect them to be alright."
labert: *look down icon* "*sobs*"
killian: *soft icon* "we need to figure out what to do now."
++"i know you are worried, but we can't cry right now."
Killian: ".. can you stand, Labert?"
labert: *crying icon* "*snf*++yeah.."
killian: *smile icon* "..."
the player is now allowed to move
windy effect is now turned off.
player is allowed to move outside the grass patch.

event: continuation to the edge
labert: "we're here. at the edge.."
viva: "have you figured out what to do, Wizard?"
killian: "we need to follow them down."
killian: "Islands can survive a deep descent,"
++"but the people on them won't. Not for long."
labert: "you think we can bring them back!?"
labert: "everyone fell into the [core]!! how can you be so sure!?"
killian: "I said, not for long. we need to get moving."
++"we can't take our time on this."
killian: "if i have to rebuild the island again i can do it."
killian: "but you cannot replace people."
labert: *look down icon*
viva: *worried icon*
viva: "... i'm always with you my Wizard."
++"but i won't li
e, i do feel like a scare-d cat.."
labert: "you and me both, mouse."
killian: ".. we will all watch out for each other."
killian : "let us find a way down."

switch to the side mountain map
backtracking within view of the campsite shows the message "we can't go back.++ we need to find a way down."
the dungeon is now accessible.

killian: "what do you smell, viva?"
viva: *owo sprite* ".. treasure OwO"

viva: "COINS!!!!"
*vivas character sprite runs to the item area*

*viva switches to crouched sprite(which shows his tail whipping about)*
viva: "*snf snf snf* uuuuu!! That smells tastey."
*viva presents a coin to killian* "a snack, Wizard?"
killian: "*The coins seem to be pure.*"

*show killians "eating coin" sprite*
"You ate the Coins."

killian: ".. There seems to be something ahead."

viva: ".. yea. smells awful."
labert: "*nudges viva* what does it smell like?"
viva: ".. rotten greens 3:"

dungeon event battle 1 (it's long)


labert: "WOAH!! what is that thing!?"

viva: "..a ghost.."
killian: "that is a shade.++a magic manifestation of someone who has left us."
killian: "the magic of this world remembers how they lived, how they felt."
++"their memory lives on, through the world magic."
viva: "why does it want to hurt us?"
killian: "most don't, they're just hungry for the magic in us."
labert: "their goals are still contrary to our existance.."
viva: "can we,, make them go away..?"
killian: "yes; temporarily. they will likely be resurrected elsewhere."
++"especially if we do a good enough job of dispelling them."

labert: ".. Will that happen to me when i die?"
killian: "No."
labert: "*sigh of relief*"
killian: "Well, depending how you die."
++"In normal circumstances I would give you a proper burial to keep your memory safe."
viva: "is that why there're, necklaces?++buried in the island?"
*killian laughing sprite*
labert: *anger icon* "It's /A/ Necropolis!!!!!!!!"
labert: "we don't bury necklaces!!!!"
viva: "then what do you make of the ash from those fed to the island fire?"

labert: "aaaaargh!!!!!!!!!"
labert: "our bodies are /placed/ in the++ mouth of the island fire to make /ash/."
++"which we pull out and place in a /box/."

labert: "that box has the story of our life written on it.++ I thought it all was just for sentimentality though.."
killian: *smile icon* "it is, partially."

killian: "had i /not/ known my friends would be restless?++ i would likely still do the same."
viva: ".. i would like to be a pretty necklace.."
killian: *normal icon* "let's find our way home. then i can make sure that happens for you."
killian: "when the time comes."

dungeon event 2
killian: ".. There seems to be something ahead."

viva: ".. yea. smells awful."
labert: "*nudges viva* what does it smell like?"
viva: ".. rotten greens 3:"

viva: "it looks like there're 4 paths we can take."

labert: "so, there's a 1 in 4 chance we'll get out of here"
++"through any of these paths."
viva: "nope! if there's one thing i know it's that a path can branch,"
++" and come back. whenever it wants."
killian: "it'd be good to write down what steps we take,++so we don't get lost."

labert: "it looks like this was the right path after all :3"
viva: "don't say that, you'll make our luck fly away."

killian: *smile icon* ".. 1 in 7 now, isn't it?"

viva: *crying cat emoji* "don't say ANYTHING!!!!"

upon exiting the dungeon, you can see them both laying in the grass outside the exit.
you have to add both back to the party manually, but upon completion-

labert: "i never wanna be stuck in a dungeon again."
viva: "you 'n me both."
killian: "i hate to be the bearer of bad news,++but this is likely only the beginning of our difficulties."
viva: "..."
labert: "..."
labert: "*at viva* why'd you have to say something?"
viva: *hiss icon* "*HISS*"

labert: "here is the edge.."

killian: "scared to jump?"
labert: "Very."
viva: "But you're here, it could be worse."

menu saying "are you ready?" appears with options yes/no
upon choosing "yes" killian states: "i'll go first."

wind sfx plays

.pngs of each character move from top to bottom of screen
a second after each one, sfx plays
for the wizard, grass shifting and goo sfx play
for the cats however, only a gooey sfx plays

the wizard falls first, like a brick
then the mouser, viva, ragdolls
and last, taking an extra second, labert, scared, luffy, and huddled in a ball.

the cloud background moves down with gravity
falling upon a grain patch with:
viva stretching, and killian holding a very fluffy labert

killian:"i saw a village nearby."
++"let's move."

  • house interview where you learn how to reach the outer wilds via locked sewers
  • minor mission to retrieve the keys to the sewers and permission from the elder (requires 1 cat sendoff,  they will return later.)
  • entering the sewers and dialogue on the architecture
  • minor dialogue where water and resource systems are explained
