“Good mornin’, ‘rosion.”

”Good morning.” Corrosion nodded as she passed by the group of dex. It was just after breakfast and Corrosion was already feeling bored. She had spent the first hour with Demone, but he had to leave and get some important work done. She had also checked in with the baby. Satana was doing good. No one had been quite sure how corruption would effect a newborn, but Satana acted like a normal baby. Demone had spent some time with her already. Corrosion was happy to see them bonding.

As she was heading back to the master bedroom, her eye caught a swish of fabric going around the corner. It was Demone, she knew it. His was the only cloak that color. Corrosion let her curiosity get the best of her and she decided to follow him. As she turned the corner, she saw the door at the end of the hall closing. She quickened her pace and managed to get inside before it swung shut.

Demone was nowhere to be seen. Corrosion walked down the short hallway then descended the stairs. This area was poorly lit and she had to keep a hand on the wall as to not lose her way. Her shoes clicked on the stone floor, but she couldn’t hear Demone. She thought about calling out to him, but something told her not to.

Each time she hit a landing, she would go down another short hallway, then begin her descent again. She walked for what must have been a half an hour. The closer she got to the bottom, the mustier and stinkier it got. Finally, she found Demone. He stood in front of a substantial metal door, peering in through the little window.

Suddenly, something smashed into the door. ”RRAAAAAA!” It howled.

“What the heck?!” Corrosion covered her mouth and stepped back. The stench seeping out from the room was atrocious.

”Corrosion, darling.” Demone said calmly. He shut the window in the door, partially blocking the screams and the smell. “You shouldn’t be down here.”

”What’s in there?” She whispered.

”A fallen clan member.” Demone put a hand on her back and began steering her upstairs. “His corruption has made him a risk for our organization. He has to be quarantined, you understand.”

”What’s that awful odor? It smells like... meat left out in the sun.”

”That’s just his sores and his waste. Now come along now. Let’s go visit with the baby.” He said cheerfully.

”I- Okay.”

Another scream rang out, echoing down the narrow hall. Corrosion paused, but Demone kept edging her forward. For the first time since they met, Corrosion had to wonder if he was keeping something from her.
