I'm still using my phone and in turn can't format this the way I'd prefer, so I will edit this later to do so.

Years back, the thought of growing old unnerved the youth. The thought of your body eventually breaking down with you inside was horrifying, like being locked in a slowly rotting prison that will one day take you down with it. It sounded like something from a chilling story you share by the fire on a dark, quiet night, where afterward everyone is left to think and get lost in thoughts of what that must feel like.

Now, countless years later, although he has aged, the thought of growing old feels like a luxury he may never have the grace of properly having. Living a full life, growing old and going through your years and body's changes alongside family and loved ones. The shared experience of slowing down and reminiscing on what was, is, and maybe will be after your time.

But he has seen his friends' and brothers' times come and go, and they had seen he, although the same age as they, stay the same. Like he was locked in a time capsule and given the experience of someone twice his age.

They all knew there were odd things about him, but they all celebrated their 20th years together. There was something unsettling upon reuniting almost twenty years later and he hadn't aged a day.

There was a particular, dreadful silence that hung like an omen he would never forget.
