It started out almost so soft that Hikara couldn’t hear it, which is the excuse he’d give to anyone had they seen him jump when suddenly “ALL I WANT FOR CHRISTMAS IIIIIISSSSSS YOOOOOUUUUUUUU” started blaring around the camp. His claws dug into his bed and he grumbled and he got himself up and checked for any damage. Thankfully the bedding remained unharmed. The same would not be said for whoever was blasting that damn song this early once Hikara found them.

“I DON’T WANT A LOT FOR CHRISTMAS, THERE IS JUST ONE THING I NEED”

Hikara stomped out of his tent while doing his best to find out where the music was coming from. Some other members of Rewritten Fates looked like they were going to approach him for a second, but once they took one good look at him everyone decided it was best to leave him be until he’d calmed down some. Well everyone except one.

“DON’T CARE ABOUT THE PRESENTS, UNDERNEATH THE CHRISTMAS TREE”

Raito quietly walked up beside Hikara and gently bumped him with his shoulder. Hikari turned around with such fury that Raito shrunk back a bit until the other korpis’ expression smoothed out a bit. “Oi don’t do that!” Hikara huffed before looking forward once again. “The heck are you doing anyway?”

“I DON’T NEED TO HANG MY STOCKING THERE UPON THE FIREPLACE”

Raito simply made a wide gesture as he frowned. Hikari grunted in acknowledgment and the two continued to walk side by side looking for the source of the music.

“SANTA CLAUS WON’T MAKE ME HAPPY, WITH A TOY ON CHRISTMAS DAY”

Slowly the music got louder, much to the dismay of both of the korpis’ eardrums but to the delight of the spiteful Hikara.

“I JUST WANT YOU FOR MY OWN”

Raito flattened his ears to his head in an attempt to block out the sound; while Hikara’s growl was drowned out by the music.

“MORE THAN YOU COULD EVER KNOW”

Finally what seemed like the culprits came into sight. Hikara quickened his pace and Raito rushed to keep up.

“MAKE MY WISH COME TRUUUEEE”

When they were close enough to recognized those responsible Hikara’s glare deepened. Of course it was those idiots.

”ALL I WANT FOR CHRISTMAS IS-”

“YOU!” Hikara roared at Taisho and Yoru. The two blinked at the angry Korpis slowly and went to turn the music down.

“What’s up?” Yoru asked, clearly nervous.

“Oh, I won’t ask for much this Christmas”

“You know perfectly well what’s up idiots.” Hikara bared his teeth. Raito shifted his weight from paw to paw, seemingly deciding if he wanted to interfere or not.

“I won’t even wish for snow”

Taisho, apparently more oblivious to the anger being directed at him, tapped his paw in time to the music. “We’re just getting into the spirit of the holidays. Spreading a little Christmas joy ya know?”

“I’m just gonna keep on waiting, underneath the mistletoe”

“It is only the first! November just ended!” Hikara practically snarled. Raito put a gentle paw on his shoulder and he calmed down slightly.

“I won’t make a list and sent it, to the North Pole for Saint Nick”

Yoru, seemingly finding his confidence, answered “Well? It’s not too early to get into the spirit of things.” He took a glance back at Hikara and looked away. “Right?”

“I won’t even stay awake to hear those magic reindeer click”

“I-I think what he’s trying to say is… it’s early and the music is… really loud.” Raito spoke up nervously.

“Cause I just want you here tonight”

“Oh shoot! Didn’t realize it was that loud. Sorry Raito.” Yoru said, apologetically as he checked the sound levels.

“Get your damn ears checked then! I can hardly hear myself think.” Hikara said, backing down slightly.

“Holding on to me so tight”

“What can I say?” Taisho started dramatically. “We just love the song so much that we can’t tell how loud it is.”

Yoru laughed as he finally got things to an appropriate volume.

“What more can I do?”

“Plus-” Taisho once more started. “-people are enjoying it. Maybe if you let loose a little you could enjoy it too? There must be-” He glanced behind Hikara at something. “-someone special to spend some time with?”

“Oh baby, all I want for Christmas is you”

Korudo blinked back at him as Hikara suddenly turned around. There were a couple other korpis about, enjoying the music.

“Yoooouuu baby.” Both Yoru and Taisho sang along with the song. Massive smiles on their muzzles.

Raito gently nudged Hikara forward and gave him a reassuring smile.

“Oh, all the lights are shining so brightly everywhere”

Korudo gave a small nod in greeting as Hikara approached. “Hikara. How are you doing today?” The korpis in question blushed slightly but did his best to hide it. The snickering from the two idiots behind him wasn’t helping.

“And the sound of children’s laughter fills the air”

“Fine.” He said, doing his best to ignore the others. “Do you… uh.” He shook himself. “Dance! With me!”

“And everyone is singing”

“What?” Korudo asked, clearly confused.

“There’s music! Dance with me!” Hikara pretty much demanded. This was not going great.

“I hear those sleigh bells ringing”

“Um, alright?” Korudo finally agreed and the two moved away from some of the others.

“Santa, won’t you bring me the one I really need?”

“I don’t wish to upset you but, I’m not sure how to dance.” Korudo quietly admitted, looking upset.

Hikara huffed. “Just follow me.”

“Won’t you please bring my baby to me?”

Hikara did his best to lead Korudo through something that resembled a dance, though the other truly had no coordination. He wasn’t one to back down from a challenge though.

“Oh I don’t want a lot for Christmas”

“Why-” Korudo paused. “-did you ask me to dance with you?”

“This is all I’m asking for”

Hikara felt his blush deepen. “Does there have to be a reason?” He asked, only a mild amount of bite put into the question. Korudo blinked in surprise.

“I just wanna see my baby, standing right outside my door”

Hikara could practically see the gears turning in the other’s head as he tried to figure it out. Damn he really was dense wasn’t he? Hikara took a deep breath and began to sing quietly along with the song. “Oh, I just want you for my own. More than you could ever know. Make my wish come true. Oh baby, all I want for Christmas is you.”

Korudo flushed a deep red. Clearly caught off guard. Hikara’s blush had grown as well and he was glad that no one but Korudo could hear him over the music.

After both recovered and the song faded out Korudo spoke. “I think… that I can grant that wish.” He smiled slightly and tentatively nuzzled Hikara. Maybe this wasn’t such a bad thing after all. He’d still take revenge later, but for now? He was content and he might just have a new favorite song
