Chapter 1; hopes and dreams

According to all known research conduction from Professor Oak, there is no way an eevee should be able to evolve.

It’s DNA is too fragile to be able to metamorphose in the manner that it does, but the eevee does anyway.

Because eevee don’t believe in what trainers think is impossible.

---

A young Frosted Flakes mulled over the scraps of clothing in his box of belongings, rubbing at his chin and brushing his paw down his chest fluff. He had to look studious for his graduation party, but what was he going to wear?

“Blue… Blue… Blue…” He mumbled, checking all of the scarves. He was just about to pull up another scrappy blue one, when he unearthed a much more vibrant color. “Ooh, Periwinkle?” He said, and pushed more of the other scarves away to view it better. It reminded him of his sister, soft and somewhat comforting. He smiled.

Frosty pulled it from it’s cardboard cell, and wrapped the light blue scarf around his fluff. It didn’t do too much, but he felt that when he finally levelled up and gained a new form, he would use it much more. He bounded out of his little nook in the alleyway, where his sister was waiting.

“Frosted Flakes! Your breakfast is ready!” She called. Frosty grinned, and came to nuzzle his sister in a greeting. His sister smiled, and looked towards the barrel of magikarp scraps that a kind restaurant worker left out that night. “There’s my little high-level pokemon! We’ve got some bits and pieces for you.” She said. As Frosty dug into his breakfast, she monologged about how proud she was of him. “You improved so quickly, and you know so many moves, too. What a perfect ‘report’ card, little guy.” She said, winking at her little brother. “Do you know what you’re gonna evolve into?” She said. Frosted flakes hummed.

“Not a clue. I might follow in your footsteps, but I haven’t exactly looked at what my options are. I’m going out with Jack today to take a look at it all.” He said, and smiled. Frosty’s sister smiled, and nodded.

“That’s exciting. I’ll be there to support you the whole way. When are you meeting him?”

“Right now, sweetie.” Jack announced, loudly, from the street a few feet away. He was leaning on the street light pole, but as soon as he tried to impress his friend’s big sister he slipped and fell until he was laying on his side. Frosted Flakes shook his head in exhaustion, but his sister giggled. She pushed him forward, towards his best friend.

“Alright, then. You go have fun.” She said. Frosted waved to his big sister, and went to meet Jack at the walkway.

As Frosted Flakes left, his sister coughed weakly into her paw.

--

“Hey Jack,” Frosted said, pushing into Jack playfully as they walked side by side. Jack stumbled, but was still standing. He grinned, and nudged Frosted Flakes back.

“Hey, Frosty.” he answered. “What’s with the scarf?” Frosted Flakes snickered, but looked back towards the road.

“Oh, it’s just a little decoration. I figured it was a special day, I might as well dress up a little.” Jack hummed, and looked him up and down. He seemed satisfied though, and he looked forward as well.

“I dig it.” He said. “Can’t believe we got this far.” Frosty hummed, nodding.

“Me neither.” He said. The two of them trekked until they reached a party. It was Milkshake and Alisaie, and the two had been waiting for some time.

“Hi, you two!” Alisaie said, grinning and waving her paw. Frosted Flakes nodded, grinning and waving back. Jack and Frosty were ready to evolve, and the other two had wanted so badly to join and support them. Now that the party was complete, Milkshake and Alisaie having snatched up some fliers of different eeveelutions, it was time to advertise which ones the two should level into.

“There’s so many choices,” Frosted Flakes said, nervous. Jack nudged him, grinning.

“You’re not backing out on me, are you?” He said, with a smirk. Frosted Flakes rolled his eyes lovingly, and pushed open the fliers that his friends had provided him.

“So… What do we have here?” Frosted said, leaning into the pictures. Milkshake tapped the first set of pictures. It was three eeveelutions, with little rocks just underneath them. One was blue, one yellow, and the last red. Frosted Flakes hummed, nearly cross eyed as he watched the image.

“The first three eevees are Vaporeon, Jolteon, and Flareon. They are water type, electric type, and fire type. There are more, but I don’t think any of them have a flier.” Alisaie said, grinning as she saw Jack furrow his brow and sniff at the flier. “You like this one?” Jack blinked out of his trance and stood up.

“Hm?” He hummed curtly, and raised his nose up at the three. “Mm, I dunno, Maybe, possibly.” He said. Milkshake snickered.

“You’re so zippy and snippy. You’d make a great Jolteon. Don’t you already know an electric type move?” He said. Jack sniffed, but hummed and lowered his head to look at the Jolteon picture. He grinned, rubbing his chin.

“Mmm. It ain’t that bad, that’s true.” He said. He glanced down at his buddy. “What about you, Bud?” Frosted Flakes jumped when Jack nudged him. He hummed skeptically.

“I don’t know. I don’t think these really fit me.” He said, frowning. “And you’re sure there aren’t more in this flier?” He said, looking up to Milkshake. The brown eevee shook his head.

“I’m pretty sure all the other eeveelutions can only be done outside the city. They don’t usually evolve eevees here, yknow? It’s why we’re all strays.” Frosted flake deflated a little.

“It’s hard to decide. Because, you know… Once you’re evolved, you’re evolved for the rest of your life.” Jack realized that Frosted Flakes was much more emotional than he was about this situation. He deflated, and laid down to be at his level.

“Hey, man. It’s okay. We’ll figure it out.” He said. “We’ll be okay.” Frosty nodded, sighing. He knew that he would get used to it, and he was sure that he would find the perfect eeveelution. It was just so hard to decide.

Just as they finished their consolation, a loud honking noise shocked them from their emotional moment. It was so jarring that milkshake jumped 2 feet into the air, whimpering in fear and making a mad dash to leave. Alisaie gasped, and dashed after him.

“Milkshake! Wait!” Alisaie yelled after him into the forest. The two eevees were left alone. Jack looked over the hill that they were on, peering off of the cliff and onto the busy road.

“What made that loud noise?” Jack said, glancing to Frosted Flake. When he realized how frightened he sounded, he corrected himself. “Er. Uh. Not that I’m scared or anything. I’m just curious.” Of course. Frosted Flake hummed, and stood to go check on it himself.

It was a large tour bus of trainers, with people climbing off of the door steps and onto their rugged city sidewalk.

“Jack! It’s a bus!” He said, looking down intently at the large machine. “It goes out to the city! I’ve never seen one so close…” Jack looked from him, to the bus, then back to him.

“I don’t understand.” Jack said. “What’s the big deal, again?”

“They know what it’s like outside of the city. We could see the other eeveelutions if we just got in there…” He said. Jack scoffed.

“That’s ridiculous, you can’t just leave the ci-” Before he could even finish, Frosted Flakes was running to the bus, trying to jump onto the roof of the machine. “Frosty! Wait! You’ve gotta be kidding me!” He said, and tried to run after him. Frosted Flakes leapt up onto the steps, slinking past the stupefied bus driver, and climbed into the overhead baggage area to hide amongst the various packages that people were holding up there. He snickered, excited to see anything past the zip code that he was allotted to. But, when he turned around, excited to help his best friend up, Jack wasn’t there.

“Jack?” he said, blinking in surprise. The bus doors slammed shut in the corner of his vision. Oh no… He wasn’t going to have to go on this mission alone, was he? “Jack!?” He called, his back bristling. He was in shock, watching his good friend hit his head against the closed doors. They were separated. Jack put his paws on the doors, and looked up at his friend in the cargo hold. Then, the bus started moving. Frosted Flakes watched, helpless, as his friend went out of view.

Jack ran after the bus desperately, using quick attack after quick attack in order to catch up with his friend, but as the city line was coming into view and the bus had begun careening down the lonely highway, the noir eevee was running out of move stamina. He gasped in desperation, collapsing at the city’s edge.

“FROSTY!” He yelled, holding his paws out to his friend’s silhouette in the window. “GAUGH!” Jack yelled, hitting his own head in frustration. “You idiot! Why did you go in there!? Why didn’t you wait for me!?” he said, as though Frosted Flakes was really there.

Frosted Flakes couldn’t believe that he did it. He felt horrible for abandoning his friend, watching his silhouette crumple in the rear view window. He did feel horrible, but he had never, ever felt so thrilled. Finally, something new. Something exciting. An opportunity to see how he would evolve. All he had to do was see what city he was going to, next.

As he hid in the cargo hold, he realized that there were, in fact, humans in the bus seats. And they, unfortunately, were starting to take notice of him. A little kid was grinning at him, and he looked up to his mother.

“Mommy, mommy! It’s an eevee plushie!” he said. Oh no. The mother looked up at Frosted Flakes, humming to herself.

“Is it, now?” She said. She watched, smiling. “It’s very realistic. Maybe a little beaten down, though. Right?” Frosted Flakes blinked in surprise. ‘Beaten down’? What does that mean? He didn’t realize that he had made a mistake until the woman screamed in surprise. “It blinked! It’s a real pokemon!” She said. The other bus members were starting to take notice of the sheer amount of racket she was making. “It’s a wild pokemon!”

The bus broke off into chaos. People threw bags and other things at him, trying to corral him out of the bus via a plethora of small windows on the opposite side. All he had to do was jump down and out. But he didn’t want to - he wanted to stay and ride to the next city! There was no way that he was getting out of this bus! He jumped down, running along the center stripe of the bus, along bus seats, around and over poles, and under each seat. The bus started to speed, trying to get to the next city.

Oh, but the massive group of people weren’t letting up. He ran and ran and dashed around the bus until he saw a few stray houses starting to collect. He was forced out, leaping into the city and rolling into one of the rain runoff ditches. He paused, trying to catch his breath. With a deep, melancholy sigh, he looked up at the environment that he was in.

It was a quaint little house, with a smoking chimney and an open window. The walls were white, the doors pink, the window curtains a matching color. The small cottage allured him with the idea of safety and food, and he started to creep up. He paused, though. His goal was the next city. But, well, he wasn’t exactly going to be able to get there anymore. If he was lucky, this house would be the home of someone who could help him. After mulling over his options, he knew what to do. He crept up to the wall, and peeked into the window to listen to the soft voices.

“Tim! Tim, can you close the window? I’m getting a chill.” Came a sweet voice. Frosted Flakes perked his ears, peeking inside. There was a sweet pink eevee cleaning the kitchen, and a glitching missingno. Eevee came up behind her, going towards the window.

“Fine, fine.” He said. When he blinked. He and Frosted Flakes made eye contact. There was a long pause, coldness seeping out of him, before he whipped around and yelled.

“There’s an eevee! A random eevee out there!” He said, and leapt through the window. He pinned him to the ground, snarling. “I’ve got you, you peeping tom. I know scratch! You better be scared-”

“Wait! Don’t kill him, Tim! What’s wrong with you?” The other eevee jumped out the door, bounding over to the two. Tim whipped around to see her, ears perked in horror.

“Chica! He was watching us! He could kill us, you know!” He said. Chica huffed, and put her foot down.

“Why does his life matter so much less than yours?” She said, coming over and pushing him off of Frosty. Tim let himself get pushed off. “He couldn’t kill you, he probably couldn’t hurt a fly. Just look at him.” The vanilla eevee was enamored immediately. He stared at her in adoration. Tim snarled at her.

“Oh, so that’s your statement?” He said. “I’m just trying to defend you, and this is how you repay me?” Chica rolled her eyes, and held her paw for Frosted Flakes to take.

“I’m just saying all life has value. You can’t tell what he’s thinking.” She said, smiling softly at Frosty. Frosted Flakes was enamored by her. He stood with her hand, glancing between them. “Let’s bring him inside.” Chica said. “He probably needs a bath.” Tim’s frown grew into a scowl. He looked frazzled and upset, and eventually turned and huffed back into their home. Chica led Frosted Flakes inside, while Frosty couldn’t take his eyes off of her. “Cmon, little guy. We’ve gotta get you all better.”

Frosted Flakes found himself sitting in a spare room with a freshly bathed coat of fur, overhearing the conversation that the two were having in their commons room. He couldn’t help but listen in - the walls were surprisingly thin, and he was incredibly nosy. He had to learn everything there was to learn about this girl.

“You wanna get yogurt next week?” Tim said, Chica sighed.

“Sure, Tim. You know. Whatever.” Wow. Chica seemed fairly disinterested in this strange, glitching eevee.

“You could put your chips in there, yknow. Make it a part of your diet.” He said, at the door. Chica rolled her eyes.

“It’s supposed to be less calories, not more, Tim.” She said. “Anyway, have a good time.”

“Thanks. You too.” He said, before running out the door. Chica closed it behind him, breathing a sigh of relief. She went to find her new friend.

Meanwhile, Frosted Flakes had begun pacing back and forth. He had to say something to her, he had to express his gratitude for practically pulling him out of the slums and allowing him to stay in their nice house and eat nice food and drink nice water for even a fraction of time. But every time he laid his eyes on her, he froze up.

The door creaked open, and Chica peeked her head in.

“Hello? Strange friend?” She said, peeking in. Frosted Flakes glanced over, and he felt his face get red all over again. He had to say something, he just had to! Alright, well, here goes-

He inhaled deeply, trying to gain the courage to say something, anything to her. But he couldn’t. He was so enamored by her that he couldn’t even bring himself to open his mouth.

Chica closed the door behind her, Smiling at her new buddy’s shock. She waved her paw in his face to see if he’d react. He shied away.

“Aren’t you cute? Where are you from?” She said. Alright. It was time. He had to say something. He had to talk to her! He had to make any kind of move whatsoever!

“Ya like jazz?” He said.

… He had to make any kind of move whatsoever. Any kind of move EXCEPT FOR THAT. Chica blinked in surprise, completely shocked. Cmon, cmon! Recover from this! Speak, you fool!

“Or- er, uh, hi!” Somehow, that was worse.

“Well, that’s definitely a way to start a conversation,” She said. “Well, er, I’m Chica.” She said, and held out her paw to shake. “What’s yours?” She asked, tilting her head. Frosted Flakes smiled sheepishly.

“I’m Frosted Flakes, but my friends call my Frosty.” He said. Chica grinned, and watched him accept her handshake. Now that he was actually talking, he could find his words better. “I just had to thank you… if it weren’t for you, who knows what that other eevee would have done to me…” He said. Chica snickered, and nodded.

“It’s so new talking to you. I mean, just a moment ago you were completely stagnant. It’s nice…” She said. The two of them paused, looking into each other's eyes. If Frosted Flakes was hopeful, he might find some sparkle in Chica’s dark eye and some blush blooming along her cheeks. “Can I…” Chica started. Frosted Flakes perked his ears.

“Hm?” He said. Chica smiled warmly.

“Can I get you something…?” She said. Frosted Flakes tilted his head, watching how she swayed from one foot to the other.

“Like what?” He said.

“I don’t know. I mean…” She trailed off, humming to herself. Frosted Flakes watched her tap her chin with a paw. “I don’t know, maybe coffee?” Frosted Flakes flushed a little, and he turned away.

“Oh, I mean, I wouldn’t want to put you out.” He said, already embarrassed that he’d wasted this much of her time. Chica smiled still, though.

“It’s no trouble, it only takes two minutes.” She said. “It’s just coffee.” And so, the two of them began a small battle to get the other to stay just a little longer.

“Oh, I hate to impose,” Frosted Flakes said, but he was warming up to the idea of staying with her.

“Don’t be ridiculous!” She exclaimed, and took Frosty’s hand. She started leading him out to their little kitchenette. Frosty smiled as well, and let himself be led.

“Actually, I would love a cup.” He said.

The two got a small coffee and snack set going on at their table, and the two sat for a little coffee time together. Chica sipped at her coffee, watching him from over the lip of the cup. Frosted Flakes was doing the same.

“Would you like some rum cake?” She asked, tipping the cake slice in his direction. Frosty had never had such a treat, and he waved her away.

“Oh, I shouldn’t.” He said. A street rat like him shouldn’t be wining and dining like this when his sister is struggling so much. Chica was insistent though.

“Have some!” She said, pushing it a little more. Frosted Flakes shook his head.

“Ooh, no, I can’t.” He said. He gave her a goofy grin, one that made her giggle. “I’m trying to lose a couple pounds.”

“You’re skin and bones,” She remarked, giggling.

The two of them talked and talked. They distracted themselves with the company of the other, and they could feel themselves connecting slowly and steadily. Frosted Flakes told her fantastical stories about the city, every scrap he’d gotten himself into, and she listened with perked ears. She went on and on about the small village they were in, and the wonders of something she had found; video games. Frosted Flakes felt himself falling head over heels for her.

“He's making the tie in the cab as they're flying up Madison. He finally gets there. He runs up the steps into the church. The wedding is on. And he says, "Watermelon? I thought you said Guatemalan. Why would I marry a watermelon?" Frosted Flakes jabbered on and on. Chica snickered skeptically.

“Is that a city joke?” She said, raising a brow at him. He chuckled.

“That’s the kind of stuff we do.” He said. He took a look into his nearly-empty coffee cup, and took a deep sigh.

“So,” She said, tilting her head. “What are you gonna do, Frosty?” Frosted Flakes rose his head in surprise, checking to see what she might be talking about. He had a feeling that he knew, either way.

“About evolution?” Frosted Flakes said. Chica nodded. “I don’t know. I want to evolve like my sister and be strong, but I can’t decide on only three choices. My big sister isn’t any of those… I don’t know how to evolve into anything else.” Chica hummed, and looked at her coffee mug in deep thought.

“I know how you feel,” she said.

“You do?”

“Sure.” Chica set her mug down again, eyeing the empty plate of rum cake. “There’s all these choices that are so easy. TM01 wants me to be a jolteon along with him, but I want to wait for a close bond and become a sylveon. Isn’t that idea magical?” She said. Frosted Flakes perked his ears.

“Wait, you know how to evolve into the other eeveelutions? How? What do they look like?” He said, leaning closer to her. She smiled, and tried her best to describe them all. He listened intently all the while. Jolteon, vaporeon, flareon, were ones that he recognized. But there was also sylveon, the one she had always wanted, espeon, umbreon, leafeon and…

“Glaceon?” He said, perking up. Chica grinned.

“I had a feeling you’d like that one. It evolves in a similar way to Leafeon. They both find a rock and level up beside it - though one finds a moss rock and the other finds an ice rock.” Frosted Flakes glanced down at his scarf. The light blue color shone at him, almost as excited as he was. There was really a blue eeveelution that evolved just like how his sister evolved… and it was perfect.

“I love it.” He said, pawing at the picture she had found for him. Chica smiled.

“I’m glad. If you come back tomorrow, I can show you where the rock is. Would that be a little exciting outing?” She said. Was she… inviting him out on a date? Frosted Flakes shook his head to free himself from that thought. Of course she wasn’t. It was just a friendly thing to do. They were new buddies, after all. Frosted flakes smiled at her, and nodded excitedly.

“I’d like that.” He said.

Frosted Flakes made the long journey home, trekking along the road, until he finally made his way back to his run-down city in the middle of the night. When he got there, Jack was waiting for him. He was pacing at the entrance to the city, and his face lit up upon seeing his best friend.

“Frosty! Frosty, you’ve come back!” He said, jumping in a little circle and running over to greet him. They toppled over each other, the both of them a giggly mess. Frosted Flakes loved his buddy, and he knew Jack loved him back. Jack licked his face as a greeting, and leaned their bodies together as they walked back to Frosty’s alleyway.

“So? What happened? Did you find what you wanna evolve into? Did you make it to the city?” He said. Frosted Flakes hummed as he walked, and nudged him a little.

“Yes and no. I found what I wanted, but more importantly… I met someone.” He said. Jack’s ears perked, but then quickly lowered. He glanced at him in surprise.

“What is it? Another eevee?” He said. Frosted Flakes closed his eyes and smiled, remembering the face of the girl that rescued him.

“Yeah. She was beautiful, Jack.” Frosted Flakes said, completely and clearly enamored by whoever he had been introduced to on his journey. “She showed me everything I needed to know, and tomorrow she’s gonna take me to the place I need to evolve.” Jack’s ears lowered a little more. Well, he knew that this day would come, but… He didn’t feel ready to be friendzoned so soon. He wasn’t sure if Frosted Flakes could have an eye for multiple people, even. Either way, he tried to keep a high head for his best friend.

“Oh…” He said. Shit. He wasn’t doing that good a job at being happy for him. “Isn’t that exciting? Wow… A nice little dame in the countryside. Definitely a life I can see you living.” He caught himself, deeming that response appropriate. Frosted Flakes rolled his eyes, chuckling at the whims of his best buddy.

“Her name is Chica. She’s going to show me an ice rock for me to evolve into a glaceon.” He said. Jack smiled softly, and nuzzled his friend.

“That’s awesome. Can’t believe you’ve come this far, my friend. When are you leaving?”

“Tomorrow morning. I’ve got to greet my sister and tell her the good news.” He said. Jack sighed softly. They were quickly approaching the alleyway where Frosted Flakes lived. Jack paused in his steps, and grinned at him.

“Well, you have fun. I’ll see you before you take off again, right?” He said. Frosted Flakes nodded excitedly. Jack waved him goodbye, and scampered off to find his own way home.

Frosty’s sister peeked out from the alleyway.

“Oh, good! You’ve come home!” his sister exclaimed, happy to see him. Frosted Flakes ran to his sister, smiling and wrapping his paws around her in a big old hug. “Did you find what you wanted to evolve into?” She asked. Frosty nodded his head in excitement.

“I do. I’m gonna be a glaceon, and evolve the same way you did.” He said. Frosty’s sister smiled endearingly, and pat him on the head.

“Aww… Isn’t that so nice? I’m glad you found what you wanted. Let’s get to bed, so you can wake up spry and early tomorrow.”

The two curled up together in the small nook of the alleyway, away from all the bustling noise and dogs. Frosted Flakes dozed off in the arms of his protector, possibly for the last night in a while.

--

Jack was waiting for him, as promised, when he awoke. He stood at the alleyway and watched him get ready with a dumb smirk on his face.

“Cmon, you don’t wanna be late for your lady friend!” He said, and Frosted Flakes waved him off.

“You’re silly.” He said, pushing his nose into Jack’s fluff. Jack batted him away with a smitten look. He had to be an asshole though, as was his nature, so he nudged him just enough to make him stagger when they were on the sidewalk. Frosty giggled and ran to catch up with him.

“So how are you going back over? Are you driving that mad bus again, or are you walking?” Jack said. Frosty hummed.

“I know the way, now. It’s a straight road, actually.” He said. Jack glanced around as he talked.

“Oh. Well, good luck then, right?” He said, and Frosty nodded. For the rest of the trek to the city’s entrance, the two of them were quiet and hushed. Jack wanted so badly to talk about everything and anything to his friend, but he couldn’t find himself able to. It was incredibly difficult to realize that he was turning into ‘the one who got away’. That’s fine, though, isn’t it?

When they reached the city’s edge, Jack stopped and watched him leave. He waved him goodbye.

“Good luck! Safe travels! Don’t die from an ekans or something!” Jack called. Frosted flakes waved back to him.

“Thank you, Jack! And I won’t!” He called, and started on his journey. Jack watched him leave for the second time, somehow feeling worse.

So he was off! Frosted Flakes journeyed along the winding forested road, with nothing but the scarf on his back and the excitement of his outlook. He couldn’t wait to see Chica again, and he especially couldn’t wait to voyage to the ice rock. Apparently, it was nearby on a mountain pass; a mountain pass that Chica had been to many, many times.

Chica was waiting for the scamp on the side of the road, just in front of her trainer’s mailbox. She grinned at him, and waved in excitement when she spotted him walking along the way.

“Frosty! Frosty, it’s me!” She called. Frosted Flakes couldn’t help but grin along with her, and bounded to meet her at her location.

“Happy to see me?” He asked, coming up to nuzzle her lightheartedly. Chica blushed, giggling, and put a paw on the bottom of her chin.

“Maybe a little.” She said. Frosted Flakes watched her blush with a smile. “Only a little, though. Come on, we’ve gotta get started on our walk.” She said, and turned to walk in the direction of a path only she knew. The vanilla eevee smiled, and walked by her side.

They had to walk into the village that Chica had lived on the outskirts of. The two eevees perused the street, passing a small marketplace with various sellers. Frosted Flakes spotted a familiar set of stones on a stand. It was the eeveelution stones; ones precious to eevee kind, on display and being advertised on a little stand. To be generous, he was belligerent.

“What in Zorura’s name is this!?” Frosted Flakes yelped, making a mad dash to look at the stones. As he feared, they were all true Thunder, Water, and fire stones. “Why are these here!?” Chica came up to him, confused.

“They sell them for trainers everywhere. Why?” She asked. Everywhere? Somehow. That made it worse.

“Chica, these are some of the only ways that us eevees can evolve! It’s a finite, fine resource that’s rare in the wild. And this is why it’s become so scarce? Because people are stealing our rightful ownership? Spitting in the face of how hard we’ve trained?” He said, turning to the shop keeper. She was watching intently, i mean, it wasn’t every day that you saw a rambling eevee. She couldn’t speak the pokemon language, though, and was only able to see it as amusing. “This is our right! We deserve these stones! We need access to them!” Chica became even more confused.

“What? What are you talking about, frosty?” She said. Holding out a paw to touch his shoulder. He whipped around to face her, but before he could talk, the unthinkable blew into his eyes.

A trader passed by them, with tons and tons of stones piled into packs. Frosted Flakes watched him in shock. He unloaded the load of precious gems from his backpack into a place just behind the street vendor’s booth. They must work together… When he was done and his backpack was empty, he walked off and began a trek down an old, beaten path. Frosted Flakes looked to Chica, who was staring back at him in alarm.

“We’ve gotta get to the bottom of this!” He said, and scampered off. Chica blinked, watching him run to follow the man. She watched him go with shock in her eyes, holding out her paw for him. Her paw faltered before she could even call his name. He was already gone.

To be continued…
