Locke was a bully, no ifs ands or buts about it. If he wasn’t insistent on staying with this little group, Erasmus wouldn’t have minded if they spent the rest of the day without him. It was his other companions that were more up his alley. Pants was a lot like him, just more outgoing and less stuttery. Kirin was a bit more towards the brutish side like Locke, but Erasmus could tell the other melanistic vay had a soft side as well.
As the four of them wandered through the fair looking for something else to do, Erasmus had to keep a tight hold of his stuffed pegasus. Too many fair goers weren’t always the fun loving nice types, and he was so scared of it getting ruined or stolen.
Speaking of being stolen, he watched some jerk running away with food they had taken from someone else. Unbelievable. It was upsetting that the fair had a darker side to it as well like that, and it was due to reos like Locke that things like that existed. Erasmus didn’t even know why the black vay was even there sometimes; he didn’t have nearly as much fun as any of their companions most times, and only seemed to grump and complain, or threaten others. If that was his idea of fun, Erasmus thought he might be a little weird in the head if he continued to hang out with them.
Erasmus was content to stay in his little world and hope that he was vigilant enough to prevent his prize from walking away from him.

The night had been getting long, but Kirin wouldn’t say that she didn’t have fun at the carnival. In all honesty she had been overwhelmed at first, her long black ears twitching this way and that because of all the new sounds and chattering voices surrounding her. She wouldn’t admit it but she had been rather overwhelmed until she had come across the small pack that she had been traveling with all night. Pants knew how to crack a joke, the blue rosette runner often trying to get his pink friend to join in.
Plus all the games and ‘competitions’ between her and the brute of a puller that was Locke had been, rewarding if not fun. Each vay had a count in their head of who had won what, and it was certain that their numbers did not match at all.
But as the night got darker and the only light that came from were the unnaturally lit stalls, Kirin could tell that the people who thrived in crowded places were really starting to come to life. Hell she had used to be that kind of Reo too, but now it was more for fun rather than survival. DIdn’t mean she couldn’t have some fun.
Quickly, she snatched a mini pretzel from the bucket of a child who was too focused on the storyteller in front of them to notice that his bucket was tipping over. She quickly snapped it up in her jaws, only to look over at a disappointed Erasmus and Pants.
“What? It was gonna fall on the floor anyway!” she said, licking her lips. “Did you want a piece?”
Locke rolled his eyes.

“Why is everyone looking at me like that?” Locke said, glaring at his impromptu companions.
He wasn’t planning on wandering off on his own, that was just too boring. But, well, being stuck in a group of semi law-abiding citizens was also pretty damn boring. Might as well make this fun.
As the group was berating Kirin for snatching an ill-attended snack from a small child, he decided to up his game a bit. More than a bit.
A human wandered past, his hands full of toys and treats and everything in between that could be bought or haggled or won from the fair. A perfect target, if Locke did say himself. With little effort, Locke meandered over to the human, deftly making himself an immovable object right in the human’s blind spot.
Two steps later, the stupid thing ran right into him, his winnings and purchases flying every which way.

“Hey, watch where you’re going!” the human said, even though Locke wasn’t the one who was walking towards him.
Hook, line and sinker.
Locke growled at him, putting on his best ‘you’ve annoyed me and if you don’t leave now you’re lunch’ face.
The human gulped in fear, the smell of his terror slowly leaking out of him as he scrambled to regain his prizes. Within seconds, the human was quickly walking away, Locke slowly letting a small grin of triumph.
“You aren’t the only one who can steal with ease.” Locke drawled, dangling a pink stuffed bear in Kirin’s face.
In the human’s panic, he left a pastel pink bear in his rush to escape. Granted, he didn’t exactly see where the stuffed toy landed, since Locke had used his bushy tail to cover it. Which worked perfectly if he had to admit.
“You know, that’s not really stealing, that’s more like you just bullied him into giving the bear to you.” Pants said, giving the pair a sidelong look.
Erasmus stood beside him, a look of uneasiness on his face as he tightened his grip on his own prize.
Locke scoffed, tossing the bear in Erasmus’s direction. “Here, you can have it, since you seem to like these stupid things so much.”
Whatever, just trying to have some fun but god, everyone here is such a buzzkill.
