-Location/Fair-

It took them quite a while to clean up after that sticky food fight. Getting it all out of Koma's hair had been the worst, but Iniko fixed him back up with a similar style by the time they were done. It was good to get the dust and dirt washed off from the race as well, and Iniko was glad to see both his companions bright reds once more.

Getting clean was half the battle though, and the other half was staying clean. After everything else they had done, Iniko half suspected that the next thing they decided to do might be just as messy.

They wandered past another pen with animals, which of course had both his companions squealing to get a closer look. This time though, the animals weren't for petting, and they watched humanoids inside lathering up the critters with oil. A sign nearby explained the process, letting them know that very shortly, a round up was scheduled. The game was to attempt to catch them while they were slick and difficult to grab, which made Iniko both excited at the idea and all the mayhem that could be caused with them, and dreading being covered in oil now too.

That didn't stop Ember though. She was not going to let him leave without another chance to play with animals, and he easily caved to her adorable demands.

"Now this one looks like any of us would have pretty even chances. Wanna try?"

“Of course we HAVE to try!!” Ember’s voice squeaked out, almost too excited to keep herself from wheezing the words to life.

She had boundless energy, bouncing herself in place to try and see the pigs over the fence.

-I don’t know how she does it- Koma thought to himself while he chuckled aloud to her antics.

“Let’s see if my jello legs can keep up with you two” Koma retorted with a smile baked on his face, remembering the earlier race he had taken part in. He could still feel the ache in his limbs, but he was ready nonetheless, nothing could keep him from a good challenge against his friends. Except maybe his legs, but he would have to see that for himself.

“There are a few rules-” the ruby and snow runner read aloud to his friends. “The sign says that we can’t use our teeth or claws on the animals, so as not to harm them.”

“Tackling isn’t listed, so no one steals my strategy!!” Ember shouted, calling dibs on her method already.

“Guess we’ll have to get creative!” Koma shot a look at Iniko, with a bright beam on his face again. He knew the puller would be more than up for an even harder challenge.

Seeing Ember so excited, Iniko of course had to try. Although his main strategy would have been to tackle them. He frowned and looked around to get some ideas. There was no real area contained for chasing down the animals, so they had the whole fair to their disposal. Hmm. Koma already looked raring to go, even though he was probably still exhausted from his race. Iniko was gonna suggest he could sit this one out, but he seemed far too excited for the prospect.

"Alright, let's see what you two got." He grinned, stretching his paws as they waited for the animals to be released. There was nothing in the rules about chasing the animals into things, and tripping up the other contestants wouldn't be a bad move if he just so happened to chase a pig into them.

The participants were made to stand in an area that was marked with paint on the ground, but open on all sides. It gave them all a fair starting point. When the animals were released, the vay in charge held up a paw, signaling for them to wait, giving the animals a chance to move away. Once he was convinced they were ready, he swung his paw down, and they were off!

Ember flung herself across the open field, going straight for her chosen pig. Squeals were starting to erupt and this time it wasn’t from the small chaser’s voice, but rather the pigs and piglets that tried to avoid and discourage the incoming charging Reoseans at them.

The sound affected some of them, the pink creatures let out some of the snarliest screeches and it would startle some of the contestants enough for them to hesitate once they got closer, giving just enough time for the animals to fling away from getting grabbed.

Ember was on the chase though, not one bit spooked by the sounds and determined to get to her target.

For Koma, getting to his target was easy, his long legs brought him there with ease, but the trampling pigs were starting to cause a stir wherever they went and dug the patchy grassy fairgrounds, turning the soil to mostly mud.

It would be hard not to slip the more time passed and the concern for skidding straight into a fair tent was becoming more and more of a worry.

The snow and ruby runner didn’t get discouraged and he sprung into action, he tried time and time again. His tactic was to swipe at the creature’s legs to trip them over. If they weren’t on all four paws it’d be easier to stabilize. But pulling it off was a whole different story, the oil on them made them slippery from all points but it also dropped everywhere.

As of yet, both Ember and Koma struggled to claim anything but chased relentlessly, partly to win but both were competing against Iniko in an effort to impress.

Iniko realized they just wanted to impress him, just as he wanted to impress them. Seeing the red and white vays spring into action as they chased around the animals, it brought a smile to his face. Still, he was struggling himself. His weight was about the only thing that he had going for him, and it prevented him from slipping as much as others. It was then he had a dastardly plan.

While the others struggled to chase their creatures, the large puller dug further into the dirt, using the grease he had rubbed off and the mud that was forming to make a small pit of the wet muck. Perfection. His eyes landed on a juicy target, an innocent pig standing alone, catching it's breath. He did his best to sneak around him, and waited his time. As soon as there was a straight shot between the pig and his mud puddle, he snarled behind it, snapping his teeth and lunging, scaring the crap out of it. With a loud squeal, the pig ran, and did exactly as he wanted, ran straight for the clear spot, and got itself stuck in the mud.

From there, it was just an easy task right? Iniko looked down at the greased pig and wondered how in the hell he was supposed to get it back now.

After much unsuccessful chasing, Koma slowed his pace to a stop for a moment to breathe. He huffed with his tongue sticking out, clearly tired after so much energy spent trying to catch even just one of these slippery pigs. Ember trotted beside him, also unsuccessful but she laughed away at both of their efforts.

When the shrieking sounds made their way to their ears, both of them twisted their heads towards the source. In the middle of the fair grounds lay a pig who was clearly stuck into the thick mud that went up to its belly. Not too far away, they noticed Iniko who was trying to figure out his next move. It was clearly not an easy choice, if anything could go wrong he’d be stuck there with the pig.

Ember let out a chuckle at that thought and she hurried towards the large puller, with Koma following behind. They’d abandoned chasing their own pig and opted to help their friend.

“Jump him, Iniko!!” Ember bounded next to him, followed by Koma’s chuckles.

Seeing his companions approach, Iniko gave a smile. "Here to help a damsel in distress?" Thr sandstone puller mustered his strength, digging his paws through the mud to approach the pig, who only squealed like mad when he approached.

"I'll push him out. The three of us can surround him so he can't get away. " And that he did. Between his broad head and body mass, the pig was eventually freed, and immediately flanked by his companions so the the of them could walk him back to the pen.

With the hassle over, they could now feast on their shiny new fair tickets.

END.
