Iniko had this habit of getting into trouble. The large runner often did what was fun and exciting and daring, and most times it paid off.

Most of the time.

He was lucky the little green reosean had showed up when they did.

Iniko hung from a net in the ceiling, swaying precariously across what looked like a pool of acid. He had been attempting some puzzle in an old ruin, and his paws slipped, pressed the wrong tiles, and lo and behold, this net had scooped him up and swung over the liquid, just daring him to try to bite through the ropes.

When he heard someone else coming down the tunnel, he thought it was some monster of the area come to do him in. The creature did appear to be a watching bush with great big bulging eyes at first, and the sandstone pulled blamed the awkward angle he was stuck in. When the eyes were pulled down, revealing they were some sort of goggles, Iniko shoved his snout through the ropes and squinted to get a better look at the reosean.

His nose was filled with the scent of that liquid beneath him, and nothing indicated the creature’s gender. It was short, likely a chaser, with a very soft looking plaid scarf and a harness adorned with dainty little fairy wings. How cute. They wore fluffy bracers and the aforementioned goggles, and their fluffy curled tail wiggled with excitement.

“Hello up there! Would you like some help?”

Iniko rolled his eyes. What sort of question was that? “Well duh, but I doubt your cute little butt can pull me down.”

There was a sparkle in the chaser’s eyes, a twinkle that reminded him of his time at the fair with his new friends.

“You think I’m cute?” They squeaked and chuckled. “Don’t worry, I got past this once before, I’m sure I can figure it out again.”

Iniko curled around in the net to keep a closer eye on the little chaser, watching the fluffy green and cream body get to work. Their paws landed on just the right tiles to get over to where Iniko was without triggering any more booby traps, and then proceeded to inspect the tiles carefully.

“Do you remember what one you pressed for this to happen?”

Iniko squinted and looked down the best he could, and he reached one of his glinted paws through the webbing. “I think I was over there. I was on that tile, and I slipped jumping to that one over there.”

The swaying net didn’t assist his pointing well, but the glittering eyes of the tiny chaser was rather accurately able to discern where he was pointing. Jumping over to another safe tile, green fluffball got to work inspecting the tiles. Iniko was mildly jealous, his own large girth wasn’t quite as useful in this situation. He didn’t need to jump from title to tile, but he was more likely to step on one he shouldn't.

Iniko tried to sit still, but he found himself spinning, so it was hard to keep an eye on the little chaser as they worked. They had a few tools they hauled out, perhaps from their fur? Or maybe there was a pouch hiding in that harness under the scarf and fluff. Either way, they had some long metal objects, and a bag of dirt, and some other weird tools, and kept poking and prodding and dusting the surrounding tiles. What exactly they were doing went above Iniko’s head, but he tried to keep watch in case he needed to know in the future.

At least he heard a triumphant call as the small chaser quickly lept onto a title, and back to safety. The part that had opened beneath Iniko slowly closed, and the net swung over to drop him back at the beginning of the room. He landed in a cloud of dust and limbs, and when he reoriented himself, he found his blue eyes meeting those of the chaser.

“Are you okay?!” The little one bounced in place, making Iniko wonder if it was a trait of all chasers or just the ones he had met.

Looking himself over, he didn’t find any injuries, and he was only a little sore from the fall. “I think all is good. A few bumps and bruises but I’ll be fine. Thank you.”

“Yay!” I’m glad to hear it!” The little creature did a few circles around him with that tiny tail wagging profusely.

A tiny croon sounded behind him and both vayrons turned their heads to view it. Iniko smiled as he saw the familiar face of his gryph. Her rainbow plumage was fluffed in agitation, and she held a dead rabbit in her beak.

“Revas! I’m glad you’re okay. Is that for me?” Iniko ran a paw over the avian head, and guided the creature to his shoulder.

“Hey girl, say hi to, uhh. Well my savior but I don’t know your name.”

The small vayron chuckled and extended a paw. “Call me Little Adventurer, everyone else does.”

“Alright then, I’m Iniko. Thanks for saving me. I’m sure this one would be all tore up if I fell into that acid.” The sharp coo was enough on an answer and the two vayrons shared a laugh.

“Wanna come with me to do some more puzzles? I got stuck in the next room and needed someone a bit bigger than me to reach a lever.”

Iniko grinned. That sure sounded fun to him. “Alright, you got yourself a partner. Let’s go!”
