Darkness. Silence. I never thought I would crave these again. For the whole first part of my life there was only nothingness, when light came my whole world was changed. For billions of years I enjoyed it, watching the world, hearing it, feeling it, tasting it. One day it was all changed.  Screams louder than you could ever imagine, not just from him but myself also. Both our throats being torn out with screams, but he didn't have to see it, only feel it, as he was changed inside and out. Blood and colours and mess. Things being pulled apart and put back together. Things melting, bubbling. So many horrific sights and then he moved to me. Oh the strange agony I felt that day, pain that wasn't really pain. Never again would I wish something like that. Never again would I want to hear, see or use any sense. I wanted to disappear, I wanted it all to go away. But that would never happen to me, or was I just afraid of what it really meant? When I think back to that day, it's strange. We were talking, that was all.

"Hey Ken you still not letting up on not turning me into a sparklelord?" Wulfric asked laying in the grass, the sun warm on his face.
"I already told you, you don't want that kind of power or existence." Ken responded sitting on a slightly mossy rock above Wulfric.
"Really? I'm sure it would be amazing. Besides then I could stay with you forever, you wouldn't be lonely then." Wulfric replied sitting up to face Ken.
She sighed. "Wulfric... I really don't think it's a good idea." Saying this helped her avoid talking about the last thing Wulfric had said.
"Oh come on it'll be great!" Wulfric hopped up to the rock and sat next to Ken. "I've already been hounding you for a week now. How long am I going to have to pester you for hey?" He said grinning at Ken.
Ken glowered at him. "It's not going to happen." She responded.
"Not soon, you mean, not soon but it will happen right?" Wulfric said seeming like a small child that had been pestering his parents to go to an amusement park for too long after they'd been given a definitive no.
"No Wulfric, I won't do it. That's what's best."
"Why'd you tell me about it then?" Wulfric frowned.
Ken sighed.
"Fine, whatever." Wulfric said hopping back down to the grass.

"Are you really sure you won't?" He asked again.
"If you keep being this annoying I don't see why I'd want to keep you around." Ken snapped.
"Oh come on you've known me for long enough." Wulfric chided.
Ken sighed again. "What if I said yes? What then?" She asked.
"Well brilliant! Let's do it then!" Wulfric said, a stupid grin on his face.
"Okay fine I will, just not today... Let's spend some more time together like this okay?" Ken said, expression softening.
Wulfric gave her a warm smile. "Okay." He responded.
The two sat there in the forest, enjoying each other's company for what would be the last time. They were never to know of the more beautiful times they could have. It would all be ruined in one moment.

"You have to know I've never done this before. You can change your mind at any time okay?" Ken warned. Not just for him but herself as well.
"Yeah, yeah it'll be fine. And then I'll be a sparklelord just like you! Sparkling away, living forever, shapeshifting, being invincible. Oh man it's gonna be so much fun!" Wulfric said with a beaming grin.
Ken didn't argue back this time. He wouldn't listen an that was it. She sighed.
"Well okay stand in the middle of the clearing." She directed. Wulfric did so. They were in a small glade deep in the forest, far from town. Wouldn't be good to have any passerbys, only the woodland animals would witness this.
"When you're ready."
"Yep."

Ken circled Wulfric for a moment before stopping. She closed her eyes and concentrated. All the golden sparkles around her started to converge together. Wulfric stood there, average height and build, blonde hair and blue eyes, red tunic with dark pants. He watched Ken, taking in her appearance. A pale woman with a light build, blue, wavy just past shoulder length hair, bright blue cat like eyes below thick dark eyebrows and large pointy ears. She wore no clothes. He closed his eyes. "I'm ready." He said with a nod, buzzing with nervous and excited energy.
"Okay." The sparkles had turned several different colours apart from gold. Blue, white and black were also there. She brought them around Wulfric and then sent them right into his body.
"Oof" Wulfric convulsed as the sparkles went into him. For a while nothing happened, then suddenly it seemed Wulfric had his own sparkles now. He opened his eyes with gasp.
"Ken! It's worked!" He yelled with joy.
Ken smiled for him.
"Woohoo! Yeah!" Wulfric fist pumped the air. "Now what creature should I shift into?"
"A bear." Ken suggested.
"Alright one bear then." Wulfric turned light as he began to shift. Everything was going right,  but something was off. He was light for at least a minute.
"...Wulfric?" Ken asked concerned.
Suddenly a howling scream came from Wulfric, he dropped to his knees convulsing in pain.
"Wulfric!"
He threw up something and kept screaming despite the choking, he was being pulled apart, his lightness turned to black. He was being stretched and squished, sliced, blood splattered onto the ground. Ken looked on horrified as the dark puddle that was now Wulfric made a human shape, only to be ripped apart again. This happened several times, like it was purposely tormenting Ken. It stopped. The puddle bubbled and stretched to a huge size. It formed a strange creature, an anteater like head, with huge sharp teeth, many white eyes, and pink feathers along its back. It had strange limbs with huge claws and a mighty long tail, also ending in pink feathers. Its body dripped black, inside swirled white lights like stars from distant galaxies. It howled in pain. It took a step towards the frozen Ken. It reached a claw out trying to caress Ken's face. ".....K...... en....." When it made contact the whole right side of Ken's face lit up. She jumped back screaming, not in pain but rather surprise. "AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!" The scream went on as that part of Ken's face began to disappear. She held it looking back and forth between Wulfric and her face screaming. Then she ran, she ran and shifted into a wolf, she ran and ran leaving the howling monster that was now Wulfric behind.

No. No! NO. Could she have it back? Those times where it was only dark and silent? No. It was all gone, all different. Everything would change. She could crave it for all eternity but she would never have the same true darkness and quiet.
