Personality

Virago tends to be very kind and accommodating more often than not, loving to help others wherever possible even if out of his own pockets. He tends to put others before himself, but is easy to anger at times and will often hold eternal grudges that tend to drive him to act irrationally. He doesn't make effort to repair relationships that he doesn't see as his fault for falling apart unless he truly believes he should, and will almost always have an opinion on what is going on around him, being politically or socially. Regardless, he is easy to befriend and becomes very talkative when approached correctly, but will often miss social cues and holds absolutely no regard to the personal space of most others around him. Despite his outgoing qualities, he suffers from a crippling desire to make everyone like him, and if he doesn't feel he's achievied this often hides away instead of moving on, preferring to live with anxiety than facing it.

Relationships

Rei, Virago's father, did little to raise Virago during his life, instead spending time searching for work, moving the rest of the family around, and taking care of other family matters, not having enough time or desire to take care of his son despite taking good care of the rest. Other than disciplining Virago, he had little to no presence in his son's life and actively avoided having anything to do with him, albeit he did not actively antagonize, beguile, or patronize his son as Virago's mother often did.

Tau, Virago's mother, was a very pretentious and brash Lefika who had an overbearing grip on Virago's life and being. She actively went out of her way to belittle, upset, and sneer at her son, convinced that he was a hopeless weed that had no place in the family because of his failure to fit in, his avoidant personality, and his lack of desire to persue the goals she wanted. Controlling nearly everything he did and said, she persistently left him to fend for himself in markets in effort to discretely be rid of him, until she eventually decided to hand him to an orphanage under the guise of being incapable to take care of him, after which she disappeared from Virago's life entirely.

Anouke, one of two of Virago's sisters, was the only kind soul Virago ever had the chance to love during his childhood. Opposite of the rest of her family, she treated her brother like a real Lefika and actively pushed him to socialize and make friends with others when out in public. As only the daughters of the family received schooling, Anouke took it upon herself to teach Virago everything she could as often as possible. Teaching him art, writing, and mathematics, she built most of the foundation for her estranged brother's future life and was the primary factor that kept Virago from fleeing or otherwise making rash, uneducated decisions that could put him in harms way. Through their final years together- before Virago was sent to the orphanage- she became her brother's sole role-model, giving him something to aspire to in life and something to base himself off.

Mehi Nathifa, Virago's passionate foster mother who adopted him after being abandoned by his birth parents, was the sole caretaker of Virago after Virago's sister was no longer able to do so due to his family moving away. Mehi adopted Virago because of her vague awareness of the young Lefika's unsettling troubles and her fervent belief that orphaned children deserve a chance at being a part of a loving family. Raising the young Virago was not uncomplicated due to his previous troubles as he proved to be very secluded, silent, and easy to shatter. Nonetheless, he eventually opened up enough to Mehi to progress in his life once more and pursue an education, growing his confidence and ability to socialize massively while he did so. From their first to their last days together, Mehi loved and cared for Virago as much as possible, often going out of her way to provide the young Lefika with every chance possible to try something new, whether it be attending better classes or simply showing her love. During their last years together, she offered Virago the ability to attend a high-end college, which he ultimately declined as he felt he wasn't ready or capable of attending. While Mehi did everything in her power to prove otherwise to the young Lefika, she ultimately accepted his decision, after which Virago moved away to start his life as a merchant.

Backstory

The first years of Virago's life started with a very cataclysmal bang.

Born to fairly poor parents in Arid Castaways, Virago was an unwanted oddball in a very expansive family of Lefikas. Looking much different than his brothers and sisters, he was often ridiculed for being strange and acting differently than his peers. As his family moved very often to try and pursue the hopes of decent jobs, he never got time to acclimate and make friends for more than a few days in the places they landed, leaving him alone with a bashful family who didn't truly love him for the simple reason he didn't quite fit into the click developed before his birth which left him very antisocial and with anxiety issues for most of his earliest years. Inevitably, after a particularly devious attempt by one of his brothers to steal from his parents being blamed on him, Virago was kicked out just before his tenth birthday to a local orphanage to finally be rid of, leaving him to degrade physically and mentally until he was adopted by another Lefika who took enough pity on him to adopt him and parent him through what was left of his younger life as a featherrack. Most of his childhood after that point was considerably uneventful aside from him receiving a standard education and attention from his caretaker, who loved him enough and had enough financial stability to permit him to attempt a chance at college.

Virago eventually decided not to attend a college despite his caretaker's intense attempts at convincing him, afraid he'd never survive what he felt was the much more advanced atmosphere of the colleges and instead learning how to perform in arts and business in hopes to start a shop selling things he'd love making. Sculpting and painting became some of his most loved and successful hobbies, followed closely by music, all of which he was capable of learning quickly through the final years of his stay with his caretaker. Working alongside local shopkeepers as a clerk, cleaner, and at various points as a form of a guard to gather enough money to move away with a tent-home and escape Arid Castaways, he eventually took the first opportunity he received and moved to his present home of Solluhawh, selling portraits and sculptures and eventually moving on enough to make a living off more common wares. By the time he reached his young adult years, he had become a decently accomplished wandering trader, capable of living fairly well while being able to work on his projects, such as becoming a medical practitioner and the arts he had come to love through his childhood.

At first, it was a mere whim to chase something as strange as being a practitioner, but Virago eventually took enough interest to learn about the natural medicines of the world found in plants, minerals, and other readily available materials, incorporating it into his merchant business. Often offering his services as an aspiring practitioner to his customers for near-free, he slowly gained an understanding of the practice through the scarce chances he received to do so. To his severe dismay, such a service wasn't very popular and he never was able to train as much as he liked, but continued to aspire regardless, which leaves him where he presently is. As a wandering merchant and aspiring medical practitioner in his hometown of Solluhawh and nearly every other city of Tucruitora, he lives his turbulent life from city to city selling goods, offering his services, and doing the best he can do to survive.
