> Personality: Tobiko is generally a very cheerful and agreeable wyvern. He takes his job very seriously, and despite his lack of both magic and sight he’s excellent with a sword, though he strongly believes that he should never use it in anger. He loves exploring through Ichy Colo and speaking to whoever he sees along the way to his destination, for better or for worse as sometimes he will just end up bothering someone who shouldn’t be bothered. Tobiko is usually very blunt as well, speaking what he believes to be the truth even if it may hurt someone’s feelings.
> Relationships:
Chicha: Friend; she and Tobiko often spar when Chicha is between assignments. Tobiko isn’t put off by losing, nor Chicha being a sore loser in the times he does win. After a match they often go to the market afterwards for a snack. Crocosma: Childhood friend; they met while Tobiko was tagging along with his parents traveling the kingdom, and often spared and explored before either of them knew much about aura control.
> Backstory:
Tobiko was very much an example of “it takes a village to raise a child”. He grew up running around with all the other kids in the Foes District, playing in the street and feasting with the families that made the unfortunate decision of trying to host all the kids at once. Their parents were also very present in their early life, looking after him and bringing to the other towns of Wyndgale where he met childhood friends like Crocosma. Because of his upbringing Tobiko is unafraid to just go up to other ptithians and strike up friendly conversation, leading to him ending up with more friendly connections than they know what to do with.
In adolescence Tobiko started showing interest in becoming a flock warrior in Ichy Colo. His parents didn’t really know how to help him achieve that by themselves, so they sent a letter to one of their old friends in Ichy Colo who had been a flock warrior for most of her life to ask if she would train him. Tobiko’s mentor made the journey to the Foes District within the week, and from then on they trained day and night to make him into a formidable fighter. He had some experience with sparring with his childhood friends, but this was very different.
His mentor trained him in sword combat, something they regarded as old fashioned both in their thoughts and to their mentor’s face. Eventually though the training began to pay off as he became more and more proficient in the weapon. At the end of his training Tobiko’s mentor presented him with a sword she had forged herself and a declaration of her faith in him. He used his newly found prowess to officially become a flock warrior like he had dreamed about and was able to present his title to his mentor before she passed on.
Tobiko takes his place in the Flock very seriously, both because of his desire to keep his home safe and the heavy weight of his mentor's legacy that presses onto their shoulders.
