The dragon’s feet scuffled across the dusty floor as he made his way down the hall. “What am I even doing here?” He couldn’t help but wonder aloud. Hadwin arrived at Steam City only to grab materials and tools he couldn’t really get much anywhere else. Instead he found himself drawn by the activity surrounding the old building he was in now. Ptithians from all over had come to this place after the rumors of a party had spread. Hadwin still wasn’t entirely sure why he had to investigate; he usually pretty well left things as they were. Perhaps something within beckoned him forth. The dragon’s curiosity soon landed him into trouble however as he got bumped into and jostled about by excited partygoers. He ended up inside the great building, and though he tried to leave immediately after he found the entrance locked behind him. So instead he decided to stay and explore, maybe find another way out or discover what exactly was going on here.

Careful steps took him down empty corridors. The hallways twisted and turned, doorways lined up on either side in some paths. He heard noises coming from a nearby room. Claws grasped upon the handle of the nearest door, and he made his way inside. There sat near a book and candles that looked to be a Lefiká morshin. Her glasses were perched precariously at the end of her snout, looking as if they would take a tumble at the slightest movement. How odd it was that she was alone in some strange building. She didn’t seem to notice him, not until Hadwin cleared his throat. Her ears bobbed at the noise and she looked up from the book she was reading, taking off her glasses then. “Oh? Sorry I didn’t hear you come in.” She said, her tail twitching behind her. “Ah. Sorry. I didn’t mean to interrupt.” Maybe he shouldn’t have? “No no, it’s fine. I haven’t been able to get any contact just yet anyways. Did you want to join me?” He raised a brow at that.

“Join…? Join for what?” He then shook his head. “Wait. No. I was just wondering… if there happened to be an exit someplace? The entrance is locked. I can’t leave.” The Lefiká(?) couldn’t help but chuckle. “Well of course it’s locked! None of us want any of the nearby monsters to get out. They’re part of the spectacle after all. Cadaver really outdid himself this time!” What…? It didn’t really make much sense. Why were there monsters nearby? Were those other Ptithians really so foolish as to attend something that put their lives at stake? It seemed the stranger took notice of his confusion. “Ah! Don’t worry. The other lindosts and I have made sure to keep the casualties at a minimum. Otherwise no one would be attending our parties every year.” His already furrowed brows tensed even more. Lindost? He’d never seen one before but had heard the stories. Now that she mentioned it… she did have a bit too many eyes for a Lefiká… or even a morshin.

“Anyways, come over and join me. It’s been so boring trying to ghost hunt on my own.” The lindost said, waving him over with a paw. Well… why not? He hadn’t much better to do at the moment. Other than shopping… By now, however, the shops were most definitely closed. Hadwin seated himself next to the stranger, his forepaws perched upon his knees. “Now what?” He asked. “Now I do the incantation. To try and summon a ghost or two. Though with how haunted this place is said to be, we might summon more.” She picked up the book and began to read aloud the words before her. Just as she was doing so, Hadwin opened his mouth to say, “I… don’t think this is such a good idea.” “Nonsense!” The lindost quipped. This is a great idea! A fun idea!” As the words were repeated again and again, the room’s temperature dipped until the dragon could see his breath.

Such didn’t bother him; he lived in Psollo so he was used to it. What did bother him was the unblinking gaze of a Rubasyn-like apparition before him. “HeLLo…? YoU CaLLed?” They said, one side of their jaw disconnecting and reconnecting upon every syllable being uttered. Hadwin did believe in spirits, and did try to communicate with them in the past. However, this? This was different. He didn’t feel comfortable in the presence of this ghost. Something about the atmosphere surrounding it spoke of danger. To run. The lindost didn’t seem to be disturbed at all. “Wow! Look at this!” She exclaimed as she pointed at the broken jaw. “Seemed to have gotten jabbed right in the kisser not long before you died, huh?” Hadwin narrowed his eyes and snorted. You summon someone dangerous and the first thought is to point out that? That’s… Well. To be honest he thought it was a bit rude.

Nevertheless the ghost turned out to be rather friendly. They were one of those murdered in the hotel many years ago. The dragon stayed with the lindost for a little while, to listen as the ghost spoke his story. Hadwin made sure to ask for directions on how to leave the hotel before he left. Whether such directions were yet to prove to be helpful, Hadwin now making his exit from the room.
